In a iene* of meetings arranged by his upstate friends and on which he made an impressive beginring Tuesday, after a non-stop jump from Charleston to Greenville, Mr. Manning has launched one of the most strenuous vote-seeking programs in the history of South Carolina politics, to continue throughout this week. "There is to be no letup in my efforts to see that the people of South Carolina are acquainted with the things 1 stand for," said Mr. Manning "1 ha\e full confidence in the intelligence of our people 'and bflieve when they have heard my message they will then have no difficulty deciding who will serve them best as their governor- for the. next f?.<U? years." Mr. Manning Spent Saturday with his family on his farm near Sumter. The first stage of the itinerary er.ded Thursday at Bishopville, after which the Sumter county farmer drove to Great Falls and Winnsboro. Ram broke up his open-air meeting at the former city, but he addressed a large crowd that night at Winnsboro. Friday he went to Union and Laurens, calling on friends at Union and delivering a brief address at Laurens. That same evening he spoke from Station WIS at Columbia. Going to Charleston Sunday, he put the Sabbath aside for rest and worship, attending services at old St. Philip's church. Monday he met many of his Charleston friends, attended sessions of the convention of the South Carolina department of the American Ix-gion and delivered another radio speech.
