At the time of his death, he was
an executive of numerous power com
panics and other enterprises in the
Carolina* and in other status, as well
as in Canada.

Killed By Train
Greenup, Ky., March 17.?Albert
Stapleton, 11, is dead, killed by a
train while waiting for food members
of its crew to.seed to him each day
as they thundered past his home.
The youngster ami his brother,
George, 12, went down to the tracks
early to await the train and the food.
They played "horse" with wornout
brooms. A slow freight came
by. and they tried a new game?holding
the brushy ends of the
brooms on the rails to feel the
wheels thump, thump, over them.
So into rested were the boys that

George dropped to the roadbed between
the rails. Albert didn't think
of that. He was killed instantly.
George was uninjured.
A Delaware. Pa., jury has awarded
a verdict of $d,f>00 damages to a

for injuries received iFt an automobile
accident. One of her claims was
that she could not smell since the

Manny Strewl, charged with tho i
kidnaping of Lieut. John J. O'Connell
at Albany, N. Y., last July, was convicted
Tuesday. He will receive the
maximum penalty under the New
York law of 50 years in prison.
St. Louis police are looking for
Mrs. Nellie Tipton, wife of a physician,
the alleged "brains" of a
gang which kidnaped Dr. I. D. Kelly
for a ransom in 1931. She with five j
men have been indicted on the charge.
Joel E. ("Eagle Eye") Warren, famous
band man killer, for many
years a terror to western bad men
and survivor of 14 jjun battles with
killers, died at Seattle, Wash., following
an operation for the amputation
of one of his legs. He took a job as ^
Seattle's first policeman 50 years ago
last Tuesday.
