I went to a specialist the other day
seeking relief from rumblings and
head-swimmings. He looked into my
exterior ear with a ?pyg*?* but he
didn't find anything wrong In that
aection, so he began elsewhere. The
ftrtft thing he did was. . . soak some
cotton in a solution of Are and brimstone
and cocaine. He poked that up
my nostril, and walked off for to
minutes.
After the surface of my palate and
music membrane of my upper thr-'at
were sufficiently burnt to a nice1
brown, he squirted a few squirts of
black v.utf into my nostrils and let
it nuuly strangle me to death, and

cheeks, but he kept on pumping. 1 ,
wanted to kiss my wife good-bye. but.
she wasn't present. When I came to;
my senses (50 minutes later) I wasj
walking through town right in thee
middle of the street and I never heard;
another south! for 3 days. 1 am.
better now though, thank you. He n
a good doctor, but he works for cash,
and that's why I took only 2 treatments.

bunch of her co-ed (girl) friends
home with her laat week-end to spend
that end with her and w. There
were only 8 of them including her.

mean dolled up. They wore collar*
ami coats and other clothes of course,
but I've been so used to seeing young
men in their shirt-sleeves, minus
collars, socks ansoforth, 1 was surprised..;
Three of them wore hats
and that's something to talk about.
. .Our daughter had some mighty
good food prepared for her friends
and 1 ate so much of it, I got sorter
' sick. They let me Deat at the first
table. . . . as some-body who knew how
had to ask the bless;ng. I forgot mv
etiquette and when 1 got nearly thru
eating. 1 looked up and lo and behold,
nary a one of the others had eaten
a jingle bite, but were still helping
their plates, but I was it! a hurry; my
:'a\ or:', e radio progiam was about to
be broad 'a-'., at least! that s Iv-w 1
got eV.U-td.

sweethearts ariived, I wer.t into the
"company" room and it was a veritable
beauty parlor. Those girls
were painting each other's lips and
pasting down each others eyebrows,
dabbing eye-lei- with rouge, squirting
on pei fume, combing hair and
' curling bang-, no-pping un talcum and
' otherwise adding prettiness. Me and
my folks enjoyed their visit and I
hope they did too.

My family jig-sawed on a -t>0-hour'
per week -^ hed'ule until every style
I of jig-saw puzzle known to 10-cent
stores was worked. We had every1
thing in jig-sa-ws from "Washington
| Cutting Down the Cherry Tree" to
"Little Bo-Peep Has Lost Her Sheep."
..Everything went along pretty at
our house until my wife commenced
to patronize the jig-saw puzzle exchange
and that's when the trouble
started. She traded in her puzzles
almost daily and gave 5-cents to boot.
About every other puzzle secured at
the exchange was shy 2 or 3 pieces
and that is what ran her nearly
floo-ey.
..She (meaning my wife) lost 3
pounds on one jig-saw puzzle and at
least a dozen grey ha ins showed up
on her head. Thnw particular puzzle
was entitled: "tehejt Khtgbtbpi>d Was
in Flower," but tne piece with th^e
knight's head and the horses' tail
were never found, nor were they even
missed until she had worked on the
thing 4 da>'3 and 5 nights.
..I felt sorry for my folks during
the jig-saw craze. When I came
to lunch every day, the entire flock
was sweating and straining over a
puzzle. When I came back to dinner
(sirpper, of course) they were etill
working" hard and when I retired
(went to bed. of course) I left them
groaning under the mental burden of

J. W. Threatt Dies At
Home Near Kershaw
J. W. Threat,t, who lived in the
Buffalo section of Kershaw coun.y,
died on last Thursday following a

low for the previous week and while
his death wa? not uncx|>ccted it came
as a great shock to a la rice number
of friends and relatives in this county.
He was a brother of Mrs. G. C.
Came* of this city and leaves a number
of other relatives in this county.
Besides live sons and two daughters
he leaves the following brothers i ml

S. ('.; Mrs. J. R. C-atoe, of Pageland;
J. A. Threatt, of Wills Point, Texas;
Mrs. <M. R. Games, of Wills Point,

Funeral services were held at the

mower for cutting weeds and hay.
Remove and store binder canvas after
grain harvest, and grease the
knotter with cup grease. Get boll
