Chester Boy Burned
At Chain Gang Camp

at the Lancaster county chain gang
when a companion endeavored;
to hght a fire by tbrc%:ng ti quantity
of gasoline :nto the stove. Gasoline 1
was thrown not oniy into the stove.but
on Bourke and on the floor so j
that after Bourke caught fire he fell
upon the burning gasoline on the,
floor. Members of the camp quickly i
wrapped him in blankets and this fact j
probably saved his life, for while he !
is very painfully burned he is not in I
a critical condition.
He suffered bums about the face. |
neck and arms ar.d is now receiving
treatment at the Lancaster hospital.'
Bourke is only about IS years of
age and was sentenced in Chester i
county for larceny, but as that coun-'

home here last night from chest injuries
received when he was attacked
by a HoWtein bull several hours ear- |
lier. He was found about midnight, '
still conscious, after he had been I
knocked through a wire fence, his j
legs catching in the barbed wire,
Mr. Nixon to'd his rescuers, who H
had searched for him since 7 o'clock,
that the bull attacked him when he
attempted to drive him back in to the 1
pasture from a field nearby. He
tried to save himself by grapping
and holding the ring in the ball'! j

fence, the force of his body breaking I
one of the three strands. j
The bull had gone when rescuers
arrived and Mr. Nixon was being j
watched over by two shepherd dogs. j
A negro arrested at Meridian, Miss., H
told the chief of police he was just !
trying to keep warm. At police
headquarters it was found that he
had on four suits of clothes, seveir H
shirts, two suits of overalls, a jumper
and an overcoat.
