Section 1. Kvery person, firm,
company or corporation, engaged on
May 1, 1 933, in any calling, business,
profession or occupation in Whole or
in part within the City of Camden,
as may be hereinafter specified, shall
obtain during the month of May,
1933 a license therefor in the manner
hereinafter prescribed. Kvery peraon,
firm, company or corporation
commencing business in said city on
or before the first day of May, 1933,
shall in like manner obtain a license
therefor before entering upon such
calling, business, profession or occupation
as hereinafter specified.
Section 2. Kvery person, firm
company or corporation engaged in
or intending to engage in any calling,
business, profession or occupation for
which a license is required, shall apply
to the Clerk and Treasurer of
the City of Camden for the same-?
by whom all such licenses sliall l>c issued.
and shall at the time of applying,
make and -sign a written statement
under oath, and file it with the
?aid Clerk and Treasurer, setting
forth: First, his or her or its name
or style, the name of the persona con^
atituting such firm or company.
Second, the calling, business, profession
or occupation for which license
is required. Third, the place
where such calling, businesa, profession
or occupation is to be carried
on; the amount of capital invested,
or the gross annual income. Parties
in business on tho first of May, shall
make such application for new license
and file such written statement before

Section 3. A .penalty of fifteen
per cent shall be added to all licenses
Which are not paid during the month
of May. 1933, except such as may
become duo after that time. Provided,
however, that immediate payment
may be required in each and
every case at the discretion of the
.said Clerk and Treasurer, and the
foregoing provision shall in no wise
.stay or hinder action to enforce immediate
payment; which tax and penalty
shall he recovered in the manner
hereinafter proscribed, and if any
^person, firm, company or corporation
required s<> to do by the toims of
this ordinance shall refuse or neglect
to make out and deliver to the Clerk
and Treusurer of the ( ity of Camden,
on or before the time herein required,
the statement provided, for by Section
2 of this ordinance, or shall make a
false statement, or shall refuse to
take and subscribe an oath or affirmation
as to the truth of such
statement, or aay part theix'of; or
Jrom any cause shall fail to take out
iruch license as may be required by
this ordinance, t)he said Clerk and
Treasurer shall report the case to
the Mayor, who .shall proceed to ascertain
as nearly as possible, th? business
of such person, firm, company,
or corporation, for Which he, she or
it may be liable to a license tax
therefor, and in ease of default for
the purpose of such investigation,
the said Clerk and Treasurer shall
notify the person, firms, companies
or corporation in default to appear
before the Mayor at his office?at a
time stated in said notice; and also
such witnesses as the Mayor may
desire to examine. The witnesses
called a> aforesaid shall be examined
by the Mayor, under oath or affirmation.

of such party, and everything
which may evince the amount of license
tax for which such party shall
be liable.
From the information thus acquired
the Mayor shall find and assess the
amount of license tax due by such
party whether he, ?he or it attended
the investigation or not. and shall
add thereto a penalty of fifteen per
cent, thereof, and should such license
tux and penalty be not paid within
five days thereafter, the said Clerk
and Treasurer shall issuo an execution
thereof under his 'hand and the
seal of the City of Camden, directed
to the chief of police of the City of
Camden, or the .Sheriff of Kershaw
County, in said State and the said
(Thief of Police or Sheriff .shall proctH-d
to collect the said license tax
and penalty, by levy and sale of real
or personal property, as now provided
by law for the collection of taxes,
together with an additional five per
cent of the whole amount, which shall
be the Sheriffs of Chief of Police's
compensation for making such collection.

vehicles for hire, which vehicle* ahall
have placed upon thein metal badges
with the number of badgea and the
license year marked thereon, ?uch
badgea to be furnished by the Clerk
and Treasurer upon payment of the
license tax. Failure to display such
badges will subject the persona owning
or using the same to a penalty
of not more than Five l>ollars or imprisonment
not exceeding ten days.
The license granted under this ordinance
shall at all times be subject
to inspection by any officers of
the (pity of Camden and no calling,
business, profession or occupation
shall be carried on elsewhere than the
place named in this license therefor,
unless authority be granted by the
Clerk and Treasurer, which authority
shall be endorsed on the license.
Section 5. All licenses granted under
this ordinance shall continue in
fprce until the tirst day of May A. I).
t&i4, except such as are written for
a shorter period, as may hereinafter
be provided. '
The City Council reserves the right
to revoke any licenses for any cause
which to them may seem to be just.
Section <5. The following sum or
sums of money are required to be
paid to the said Clerk and Treasurer
for a license to carry on the business,
calling, profession or occupation in
whole or in part witihin the limits of
the City of Camden, as in each case
specifically appears.

On each additional $1,000, ten cents
per $1,000.
Where the gross annual income
from tho business, callings or professions
enumerated in the following
schedule, shall be One Thousand
pollars or less, tho Mcense shall be
at the rate set'forth in said schedule;

exceeds One Thousand Dollars, the
license shall be increased from the
amount set forth in said schedule at
the rate of ten cents for each Thousand

so posted during the continuance of
said license; and shall have a tag,
furnished by the City Clerk, carrying
a number corresponding with the
number of said hack or vehicle,
fastened on the outside of said hack
or vehicle in such a position as to be
easily seen; and all drivers of such
hacks or vehicles shall wear a 'metal
badge, of convenient size, on the left
side of his outer garment, with the
number of his license painted or engraved
thereon.

month of the year except December,
January, February, to Keep the meats
on said .wagons in refrigerators of
sufficient capacity to carry the said
stock and all portions of said wagons
not taken up by refrigerators to be
screened and said refrigerator at all!
times kept in a sanitary condition
subject at all times to inspection by
the health officer, or any one designated
by him. No license for sale of
such meats .in wagons on streets is
