Order bacon and eggs for breakfast and you get about two eggs cooked and all dressed up ./'$yeuml the edge with little pieces of bacon that you can hold up and see through. But this , bacon sells for 30 cents a pound! Eight pound of bacon <dt 30 cents a pound 'makes $2.40. A hundred pound hog sold last week all over the state of Georgia for $2.40 or $2.50 apiece. In that hog there is at least two eight-pound strips of that ?.?sme breakfast bacon, besides the thick middlings with the ribs. In ^thAt same hog there are two nice hams, weighing anywhere from soven to eight pounds apiece, and two shoulders of similur weight. In that a^me $2.50 hog there is about ten pounds of the very best kind of lard, saying nothing about the brains, hog head, pig feet, jowl for collard greens, and sausage.-?'News-Herald. I . The South (Carolina tax commission was ordered to refund $2,394 of income taxes to the Read Phosphate company, of Charleston, by a decree of Judge Griroball the other day, on the ground that the computation did not take into consideration the de-. preciation of property values from 1926 to 1931. If the decree is upheld by the supreme court, it means the refund of a total of several hundred thousand dollars of income taxes illegally collected in this state, the attorney for the tax commission says.
