MALVA
now available
in camden
v.
We are pleased to announce that we have just secured the exclusive distribution of MALVA, the wonderful
NEW medicine in Camden and throughout Kershaw County. This remarkable new remedy will be placed
on sale in our store today. This is the first time that MALVA has ever been available in any Camden drug
store and will be handled by us EXCLUSIVELY, from now on.
No effort was made to place it with druggists, n&r to force its public acceptance through gigantic claims.
The scientific men sponsoring this wonderful new medicine preferred to do here as they have always done
elsewhere?let MALVA prove itself.
Their representatives went about their work quietly and methodically, among people in all walks of life?
sufferers from nearly every ailment known to a sluggish liver, a disordered stomach and affected kidneys.
Conditions such as sallow complexions, headaches, extreme nervousness, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, sour
stomach, swollen feet and hands, rheumatic pains and a generally run down condition were frequently en- !
countered. MALVA is a regular medicine-chest fixture with these people now and to them it is not new. !
But to the great mass of Kershaw County people who have not tried it, MALVA will prove tremendously
new?tremendously different from any medicine they have ever known.
WE RECOMMEND MALVA
!The main reason we endorse MALVA is because we know the great chemical laboratory in which it is made.
We also understand how the Nature-assisting herbs in MALVA stimulate the liver, which, in turn, guards
the stomach against the numerous gastric discomforts. Likewise, we know that the increased bile flow

If > uu are not suffering fr?>m some serious vital organic derangement, such as would require the diagnosis
and -treatment of a trained physician or surgeon, try MALVA. Perhaps you may be suffering from some
minor functional incapacity that would yield to Nature's assisting properties in MALVA.

i ISecrets of Wizard
Interred With Him
Bamberg, April 14.?Whatever seI
V'reta A. W. Brabham of Olar, the
plant wizard of Bamberg county,
wrested from nature in his efforts
to produce "black cotton" died with
I him.
I Had Mr. Brabham, who died recently,
lived a few days longer, data
ho collected in his many years of
experiment might have been preserved
in the records of the bureau
of plant industry at Washington.
Through the efforts of Senator
dames F. Byrnes, of South Carolina,
I>r. W. A. Taylor, chief of the plant
bureau, had agreed to send a representative
to confer with Mr. Brabham.
Only a short time before the
J representative was to have arrived
at Olar, Mr. Brabham, who had reached
an advanced age, died.
Although never very communicative
about his research work, the plant
wizard had consented to discuss his
experiments with the representative
of the plant bureau.
He was willing to release data ho
had obtained not only in his cotton
research but in other fields of plant
breeding. His experiments covered
a wide range. One of his products
was the Brabham cowpea, a variety
grown in many sections of the south.
It was his efforts to originate
cotton with colored fiber, though,
that perhaps attracted the most popular
attention. He nkver succeeded
in growing a variety with a black
staple but did develop strains with
staple ranging from yellow to blue.
The story is that he was confident
of turning out in another year the
long-sought "black cotton." He

He received a bitter- disappointmcnt,
An early freeze destroyed his!
entire planting, wiping out tlx' results
of years of painstaking research.
Ill health and advancing years pre(
vented his starting all over again in
his experiments.
In addition to his achievements in
plant breeding, Mr. Brabham was
well known locally for his literary
attainments*. Although he attended
school only a few years, he was a
master of English and was well
versed in several foreign languages.
He was a keen student of Latin
and was an authority on Greek and
Roman mythology.
