Miss Elizabeth Zemp has recently been chosen Spnosor of the Glee Club at The Citadel. Club Met 'l?ant Thursday Mrs. A. S. Llewellyn was hostess at her contract bridge club laat Thursday afternoon. Mrs. W. L. Wright and Mrs. Mawry were guests * of the club. After ,the game a tempting salad course with hot coffee was served. - ' i. Met With Mr. and Mrs, Beard The Thursday evening club was delightfully entertained last week by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beard." A^ourse dinner was served at 7:30 before the games of bridge. High score was made by Mrs. Joe Guthrie, Named As Exchange Editor Charleston, S. C., Feb. 11.?The Bull Dog, weekly, newspaper published by the Corps of Cadets of The Citadel, announced yesterday the election Robert M. Kennedy III to the position of Exchange Editor on the Junior -staff which will assume control of the paper next week. The Bull Dog stated that Kennedy was selected to fill this important posi-i tion because of his journalistic ability and his past services to the paper. Cadet C. E. Watts is the retiring managing editor of the publication. To Put On Centennial Program Tho combined forces of the Camden high school and the grammar grades will put on? a Washington Centennial program^ at the school either on Washington's birthday or within the week. The program will consist of several parts, a playlet, tableaux,./ minuet and tree planting * exercises. The committee, on costumes si calling upon the people of town to . lend any Colonial or Indian costumes that they may have in their homes. It will be greatly appreciated by those in charge if those having silch costumes will get in touch with one of the following teacher*: Mrs. Taylor* Mrs. Dempster, Miss Ada Phelps, Mrs. Mills, Mrs. Mcl^eod, Mrs. Schenk, Miss Wolfe, Miss Oaks or Miss Knight. Tag Day Annual Tag Day for the Camden Hospital will be held on Saturday, February 13. The ladies of the hospital auxiliary have this in charge and the revenue derived goes for the Camden hospital. To Give Silver Tea Circle number three of the Woman's Auxiliary of the Presbyterian ehureh are giving a silver, tea on Friday afternoon, February 19, from 4 to 6 o'clock at the residence of Miss Marie Kirkland in Kirkwood. The proceeds will be used for the Auxiliary. During the afternoon a musical program will be rendered. Guthrie On Saturday afternoon Mrs. J<tfi (iuthrie entertained her bridge club at her home on Broad street. This was the ftrst meeting of this club which was organized last week. The members include Mrs. William Burnet, Mrs. Henry Savage, Sr., Mrs. J. T. Hay, Sr., of Boykin, Mrs. William J. May livid, Mrs. W. O. Hay, Miss Alberta Team, Mrs. Charles Salmon and Mrs. Joe Guthrie. Valentine Tea Saturday The annual Valentine tea will be given at the Woman's Exchange on Saturday afternoon from 4 to 5:30. Appropriate for the season will be lovely decorations. The proceeds will be usetl for tho Parish house fund. McKain Richards Was Host, On Friday night McKain Richards gave a lovely party in honor of Burwell Capehart, who is spending the winter here with Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Boykin. Many games were played and dancing enjoyed, after which do^ lightful refreshments were served. Those invited were Misses Lena Stevenson, Sarah Bissell, Helen Tindal, Fannie Mickle, Mary Edith Copeland, Emily Sheorn, June Snyder, Jenny Cullen, Carolyne Cantey, Jack Halsail, Raymond Moore, Robert Shaw, Ned Beard and Burwell Capehart. ' Garden Club Met The Camden Garden club held its February meeting on Monday afternoons at the home of Mi?s Leila Shannon on Chesnut street. During the business session plans were made for the spring garden show, which is to be given in the near future. An interesting talk on "Garden Shows" was made by Mrs. Morris Lumpkin, of Columbia. Othej members of the Columbia Garden club prseent were: Martin Pearce, Mrs. Gftthcart, Mrs. Goings and Miss Gulledge. The Garden club has a membership of fortyfive women, both resident members and those of the winter colony. Many interesting plans are being made and carried out for the beautification of Camden. The outstanding committees with their chairmen are: Publicity, Miss Elizabeth Farrelly; program, Mrs. J. G. Richards, Jr., highway beautification, Mrs. R. B. Pitts; garden show, Mrs. E. D. Blakeney; constitution, Mrs. George Cook; officers, Mrs. L. I. Guion, Miss Fletcher, Miss Helen Phelps and Mrs. J. Willis Cantey. Members joining at this meeting were f Mrs. David Williams, Mrs. Carroll Bassett, Mrs. W. L. Wright and Mrs. George Cook. 'Had Birthday Party On Monday afternoon Master Harry Gandy, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Gandy, celebrated his fourth birthday with a party at Park View Inn. Games "dear to the hearts of 'children were played and in the conj test little Miss Joan Schlosburg won for girls and Master Jack Boykin 'won the boy's prize. Miss Katherine Farrelly, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Mr. Thadeus Farrelly, of New York, are visiting their mother, Mrs. F. Farre^fiyr on Hampton avenue. The friends of Mrs. Ancrum Boykin, Sr., will be pleased to learn that she has returned home from Charlotte, N. C., where she has been ill in the Charlotte hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Lansing and Miss Virginia Lansing, of Scranton, Pa., motored to Camden on Sunday and were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Pitts for a ferw days. Mr. and-Mrs. D. E. Hinson, Roy Hinson, Arnold Hinson and Waddy Hinson, of Columbia, attended the funeral of Mrs. Hinson's sister, Mrs. Cora F. Ma this here on Tuesday, Mrs. James Allen, of New York, formerly 'Miss Agnes DePass, of this city, will arrive on Saturday of this week for a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. DePass, on Fair street. Mrs. W. L. DePass, Sr., and Mrs. W. L. DePass, Jr., returned home this week from St. Matthews, where they have been spending the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Skottowe Wannnmaker. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Goodale left on Wednesday of this week for a trip to Florida. Mr. Goodale goes in the interest of the Camden Floral company, one of the South's largest growers of Easter lilies. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Moore had as their guests last Sunday the following from Charlotte, N. C.: Misses Mary Moore and Maggie Covington, Mrs. W. C. Irwin and daughter, Harriet Irwin, Mrs. Robert Jordan. Mrs. Moore accompanied them home upon their return, and will spend a week. Met With Miss Guthrie On Monday evening the Spinsters' Club met at the home of Miss Thomaaia Guthrie on North Broad street. Lovely spring flowers were attractively arranged in the living room where the tables were placed- Miss Guthrie won high score for the evening.* The hostess, assisted by her mother, Served delicious sandwiches and coffee. 4. . Misses Moseley Entertain On last Friday evening Misses Bertha and Ruth Moseley entertained at their home. Around thirty gu< -ts were present and dancing and cards were on Joyed. ; To Have Bridge Benefit On Friday evening, February 19th, the American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring a bridge benefit at Legion Hall, DeKalb street, at 8 o'clock. The club will meet once a month and modern composers will be studied. The officers of the club are as follows: Mrs. Charles Salmond, president; Miss Hallie Carson, vicepresident; Mrs. J. <3. Richards, Jr., secretary and treasurer; program committee, Miss Alberta Team; membership committee, Mrs. F. N. McCorkle. At the March meeting a program on MacDowell will be given. Mrs. Queen Was Hostess Mrs. J. B. Queen delightfully entertained the weekly bridge club at j her home on last Thursday. An ex- p tra table was added for visitors. Legion Auxiliary Notes The February meeting of the American I>egion Auxiliary was held Friday afternoon at the Legion Hall with Mrs. Carl A. West, Mrs. Charles F. Sowell and Miss Emmie Alexander as hostesses. The president.-Mrs. Sam Karesh, opened the meeting in its usual i manner with the ''Pledge of Alleg-1 lance to the Flag." Very encouraging reports were given by the chairmen of the various committees. Plans were made for a joint meeting of the Legion and Auxiliary on February twenty-third at Legion Hall, at which time a program will be put on celebrating the bicentennial anniversary of the birth of George Washington. The Americanism chairman, Mrs. S. C. Zemp, with a committee from both the Legion and [ Auxiliary are planning a very attractive "program. ~~ Miss Charlotte Salmond 'sang "Elegie" by Massenet and "La Golondrina" by Sarradell, after which _Mrs. T.
