Mrs. Fred Bryant made low score and received a pair of small brass vases. Is the late afternoon a delightful salad course and candies was served. Mrs. UesChanips Was Hostess Mrs. Carroll De&Champs was hosess at her bridge club on Friday morning of last week. Guests besides regular members were Mrs. Robert Maryo, Mrs. Jaclf Whitaker, Jr., Mrs. John Villepiguo, Mrs." W. 0. Hay, Mrs. Alfred McLeod, Mrs. J. L. Williford and Miss Cornelia Aldret. The highest score for the morning was made by Mrs. Williford and she was presented with a set of sandwich cutters. A delicious luncheon was served after thq game. To Meet With Mrs. Cook, The Camden Garden Club will meet at the home of Mrs. George Cook on Green street Monday, December 7, at four o'clock. Members will please note the change in the date of meeting. Many Books Donated to Library A splendid donation of books numbering about seventy-five were given to the Camden Library last week. Of this number about forty-five were good mystery and detective stories which are proving the most popular fiction of the present time. Biography continues to be popular, the librarian reports. .i . Met With Frances Ithame. "The Good Time Music Club," directed by Mrs," A. D. McArn, had its last meeting at the home of Frances Rhame. A program enjoyed by all was rendered by the following members: Frances Rhame and Jane ,Hoffer, duet; Frances Rhame, Ellen Little, Elsie Redfearn, Lottfe Smyrl, Jane ? Hoffer; Martha and Mary Smith, duet. At the conclusion of the meeting delightful refreshments of ice cream and cake were served by the hostess. Personal Mention Mr. and Mrs. F. I). Miss Carolyn Heyman attended a class reunion at Agnes Scott, Deca-1 tur, last week. She was accompanied on tho trip by Miss Margaret Mills, who visited in Atlanta. L. Perry Mac key and Lexie Croxton, of Kershaw, were in the city Tuesday on business. Dr. Alfred H. Ehrenclou, of New York, is this season occupying the home of J. B. Zemp, corner of Fair and Chesnut streets. The home of N. C. Boykin, on North Broad street has been rented to Mrs. William A. Putnam and family, of Brooklyn, N. Y. These homes were rented through the C. P. DuBose Agency., of this city. The friends of Mrs. Hunter Lang will regret to learn that she is ill in the Columbia hospital. Mrs. Wiley Sheorn and little son, Wiley, Jr., visited relatives in Lancaster and Charlotte last week. Miss Caroline and Emily Duncan, yf Lancaster, returned home with them on Monday and will be her guests for a few days. M iss Willie Haile is visiting her sister, Mrs. F. D. Rodgers, in Bennettsville. ... Mrs. , M. S. Halsall, of Jacksonville, Fla., arrived today for a visit to her mother, Mrs. John M. Smyrl. Entertained on Wednesday On Wednesday morning of this week Miss Leila Shannon entertained her bridge club and had three extra guests, Mrs. H. G. Marvirr, Mrs. Warren H. Harris and Miss Elizabeth Farrelly. A delicious course luncheon was served after the game. . In the afternoon Mrs. Henry Beard was hostess her club. The top score prize was won by Miss Minnette Boykin and the low score prize fell tb Mrs. Joe Thomas. Late in the afternoon delightful sandwiches, pound cake and coffee was served by the hostess. Opera at Winthrop College On Thursday, December 10th, at Winthrop college auditorium an opera, "Sampson and Delilah," will be presented 0 under the direction of Walter B. Roberts. Among the artists taking part are: Sampson, by Arthur Kraft, tenor; Delilah, Frances Hatch, contralto; Bogan, Benjamin P. DeLoache, baritone. The last named is a native of Camden, who has pleased many audiences with his singing and this is the first time his friends have had the opportunity to see him have a part in opera, sp mdny friends and relatives fropi here are planning to attend. * " v * ?' * % " I * i, In Honor of Gucflt On Friday afternoon of last week M rs. H. G. Marvin gave a lovely bridge party hohoi ing her " guest, Mrs. Coit, of Greensboro. Pretty fall flowers were attractively arranged in the room in which the four tables were placed for the games. At each table a prize was given for the highest score and those winning were Miss Leila Shannon, Miss Clara Krurpbholz, Mrs. R. B. Pitts and Mrs. Surah K. Winkler. After cards tea, sandwichs and cake was served. Bazaar and Barbecue at Ilagood The Altar Guild of the Church of the Ascension will have its annual bazaar and barbecue supper Friday night, December 4, at 7:30 o'clock, in the community hopse on the 'church grounds. A delightful supper , will be served at individual tables, for 50 cents. In the Sunday school room ' adjoining the community house, there I will be an elaborate display of fancy work, all hand-made, the majority being priced. at 50 cents and lower. This will be a vyonderful opportunity for Christmas shoppers. The Young i Peoples Service League will have an attractive candy booth. Mrs. Harris Sanders is chairman of the supper committee and Mrs. AnCrum Boykin, Guild treasurer, has charge of the sale of tickets. There will be music and an exhibition of tap dancing.
