Phuraday afternoon, conducted by the
Rev. J. Burn we 11 Oast on, pastor of

Assisted by the Rev. John Babney.
Interment was in the churchyard.
Mrs. Horton had been living in the
Pleaaant Plain community of Lanastcr
county only a few months,
laving moved from I>ake City, where
die had made her home for the past
<ever$l years. She was the daughter
Robert F. Ix>ng and the late Mr#,
Anna Welch I?ng. She had lived in
the Pleasant Plain section prior to
her marriage in 11)10.
Besides her husband and father, she
is survived by five children, Fred B.,
Jr., Robert I>ee, Elwin l.?awton, Nan
and Joan Horton, the latter only eight
months old. She is also survived by
the following brothers and sisters:
Luther L. Long, Miami, Fla.; J. Herman
Lpr?g, Columbia; Clark H., Cecil
B., William U, and Annie Welch
Ixmg, Lancaster county; Robert C.
Long, Oolumlbia; Mrs. Mary Long

The pallbearers were: C. M. Rouknight,
H. S. Corley and H. W. Young

Her husband and son, Robert Lee
Horton, are both dangerously ill of
pneumonia.
Kills Sheriff, Brother and Self
Monticello, Ind., March 16.?While
attempting to arrest two brothers
suspected of bank robbery, Ray Fisher,
40, sheriff of White county, was
shot and killed yesterday. One of
the suspects then was shot to death
by his own brother who in turn committed
suicide. The dead suspects
are Wilhwm TaibuLi, <>4, snot uy ins
brother, and Scott Talbutt, 43, who
then killed himself. Deputy Sheriff
Barney Ireland was shot through the
head. The shooting occurred at the
home of Mrs. Harriett Tatbutt, 81,
mother of the Talbutts, two miles
northwest of Buffalo, a small community
10 miles north of here. Sheriff
Fisher and his deputy held a warrant
for the arrest of Scott TaBbutt in
connection with the robbery of the
Battleground, Ind., state bank last
February 6.
Four thousand farmers at Raleigh,
N. C., last Thursday told the finance
committee of the two houses of the
general assembly that taxes on lands
must be reduced or dire consequences
would result. Every man in the
house stood up when called upon to
express a preference between a sales
tax and a luxury tax for support of
the schools, the expression being favorable
to the luxury tax.
