Indianapolis.?The ingenuity of
Abraham I.lncoln in using an almanac
to win a murder case was imitated by
W. s. Henry, colored at lot aw. in
Municipal court here.
Andrew Merritt, colored, rliirty-lho,
was charged with driving a wagon
without a tail light and causing an
auto accident. Henry, his at torney. admitted
that thv defendant was driving
without a light. 1 mit pointed out
that the law allows a dri\er until a
half hour after sundown bof.uv he
must burn lights.
The accident occurred at p. m.
Henry produced up almanac i?? prove
that official sundown was six o'clock,
thus allowing the driver five minutes.
Judge Paul C. Wetter held that the
almanac was sufficient proof.
