Rotary Club Hosts
To Four-HClub Boys
Through the initiative of HenryfcpC
[Jreen, a if roup of 4-H club boys -were
quests Thursday at dinner of the
Camden Rotary Club. The dinner
was served at Hotel Camden, and the
'Future Palmetto Fanners" enjoyed
the occasion to the fullest. A meet*
ing with the 'boys was hold at the
:ourt house before the dinner hoar,
hnd after the meeting they proceeded
to the hotel where they were received
very cordially by the Rotarians. R. B.
Pitta presided. After the gvesta had
nil been served Mr. Pitts called upon
Frank W. Chapman to introduce the
visitors, and then called upon Mr.
Green to introduce the boy*. He called
upon several of the boya to till about
their club work which they, did in a
very intelligent and attractive manner,
giving evidence of careful training
and direct interest in their vvork.
One of the boys spoke of producing
t>4 bushels of corn on one acre whicn
the year before yielded only 18 bushels.

winning# at the county fair, one boy
having won $80.00 in cash prizes and
fyom one litter of pigs had eold $30.00
worth of them and valued the brood

and capable leader of 4-H

and d$lighted everV* one
with his witty and practical talk.
Words of encouragement were spoken
by Mr. Bam Kusse), ? northern gentleman
who has been making Camden
his home for many winters.
Mr. Hollis Cobb led the singing of
the boys' "ploughing song" to the delight
of everyone. The rotary club
greatly enjoyed having the boys as
their guests.
Fire Damages Residence
The fire department was caHed to
the residence of 'Mr. and 'Mrs. S. N.
Nieholson on north Broad street
Monday afternoon to extinguish a
fire caused <bv the explosion of an
oil stove. I/nokliy ft was discovered
in time and the firemen were able
to extinguish the flames with chemicals.
