The Kirkwood bridge club was entertained

The December meeting of the John
I). Kennedy Chapter U. D. C. will be
held Monday, Dch ember 1, with Mrs.
Henry G. Garrison, Jr., at her home

The Woman's Exchange will open
on December 1st under the management
of Miss Ethel C. Yates. The
Tea Room will be in charge of Mrs.
Jack Whitaker, Jr. Pretty Christmas
greens, cards and gifts of all
kinds will be on hand in abundance.
Orders will be promptly filled for
Christmas.

missions-beginning Monday, Docember
first. Meetings will be held
in the church each afternoon at 1
o'clock.
Fresh Meat at Market
If you would like some fresh pork
sausage, spare ribs, ham or dressed
turkeys for Sunday call at the Community
Market on Saturday after
9:30 and the ladies of the countywill
have them on sale. Spinach,
rape, potatoes, fresh country eggs
are some of the other products of
the farm to be offered for your selection.
Mrs. Spencer Was Hostess
Mrs. Frank W. Spencer was hostess
at bridge on Tuesday afternoon,
entertaining in her home on Chesnut
street. Yellow and white chrysanthemums
and roses were tastefully
arranged in the living room and dinlug
room where' the four tables wen
placed for the games. In the sun
porch bright fall flowers and ferns
lent charm to the delightful affair.
Mrs. A. S. Llewellyn received high
score prize and was presented with
a lovely blue linen table cover with
doilies to match. The consolation
prize was' an attractive brass paper
weight with cord and pencil attached;
this was cut by Mrs. W. H. Harrii.

McSwain?Maxwell
Announcements of the marriage of
Miss Virginia Carolina McSwain to
Robert Earle Maxwell which took
place Thursday, November 20, at
Clemson have been issued by the
bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lucius
Franklin McSwain of Greenville.
The wedding was a quiet affair and
attended by the families of the young
couple. The Rev. J. K. Guode pen
formed the ceremony.
After the ceremony the bride and
groom left for a wedding trip and
upon their return will be at home
in Columbia, where Mr. Maxwell
holds a responsible position with the
Broad River Power company.
Mrs. Maxwell is a graduate of the
University of South Carolina, where
she took an active part in all college
activities. For the> past few years
she has been teaching in the public
schools at Camden. !Mr. Maxwell is
a graduate of Clemson college.?-Columbia
State.
Mr s. Hunter Boy kin
Died In Charleston
Charleston, Nov. 27.?Mrs. Hunter
R. Boykin, for 45 years, a resident
of Charleston, died at 3:30 o'clock
this afternoon at her . home at 64
Smith street. Mrs. Boykin, who had
been in ill health for some time, was
in her 70th year.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow
afternoon at 3 o'clock at the
Presbyterian church in Camden which
was Mrs. Boykin's girlhood home.
She was a daughter of the late Robert
M. and Margaret Kennedy.
Mrs. Boykin is survived by her
husband, seven children and three
.brothers. The children are: R. Kennedy
Boykin, of Charleston; William
Wbitnker. Boykin, of Charlotte, N.
C..; Mrs. Wilmont Heyward, of Atlanta;
Belton O. Boykin, of Camden;
John "Kennedy Boykin, of Washingtor.;
Thomas Reeves Boykin, of Columbia,

Mr. Coleman Very III
Friends of Mr. C. M. Coleman regret
to know that he was carried to
the Camden hospital Saturday night
a very ill man. Mr. Coleman had
been confined to his home for about
two Weeks, and his sudden turn for
the worse came as a great shock to
his family and friends.
