Announcement has been made of
the marriage of 'Miss Elva Geraldine
Stogner to Paul Stephen Pear re,
ft which took place recently.
Mrs. Pearce is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. C. O. Stogner, of Camden,
S, C., and is a graduate of the class
of 1930 of Winthrop college. Since
September she has been employed as
instructor of Home Economics in the
Loris high school where she has made
m,my warm friends.
Mr. Peance is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. W. W. Pearce of Columbia and
has a position with the State Radio
Distributors in the capacity of service
manager. Mr. and Mrs. Pearce
will make their home in Columbia.?

bridge game delicious sandwiches and
ginger ale were served.

legion ball. 1 he Hallowe'en idea
featured in all details. The hall
was attractively <le<*>rated with pines
and autumn leaves and in each window
was a lighted pumpkin. Iu the
center of the iiall long streamers of
yellow and black hung from a largo
electric fan under which a table centered
with a large 'lighted pumpkin
held the attractive prizes to be given
at each 'table. Those prizes were donated
by local business bouses. The
prizes wee wrapped and numbered
and the winners holding the corresponding
numbers <liew their prizes.

Legion Auxiliary,to Meet
Members of the American Legion
Auxiliary are urged to attend he
| monthly meeting of the organization
to be held Friday, November 7th, at

meeting. The hour of meeting is set

Mr. Delyoache In Cast of Play
In the^Philadlephia Ivedger of October
19th on the theatrical page, appears
an article about "Le Jongleur
de Notre Dame", the play presented
by the Philadelphia Grand Opera
company at the Academy of Music,
in which Mary Garden takes the role
of Jean. In ithis play in the cast
supporting Miss Garden, appears
the name of Benjamin DeLoache, of
this city. It was quite a compliment
to Mr. DeLoeche'e art to select him
and his friends here will be glad to
learn success in his chosen

Death of Mrs. Black well
On the night of October 21 out
(immunity was deeply saddened in.
Lhe passing of Mrs,. W. C. iHftckwell.
She had been slightly indisposed for
a few days but no one expected the
*nd so soon.
Mrs. Black well was in her sixtysccond
year, having been born in
l^ncaster county on June Id, 18dH,
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew
Knight. She was twice mar
lied. Her first husband wa- Benjamin
Marshall to whom she was married
on June 27. 1K87. He died in
llO, ai-d in 1V12 she was married to
W. C. Blackwell, who survives her.
She is also survived by the following
sons an.d daughters: W. A. Marshall,
Xi. F. Marshall ami B. W. Marshall,
Mrs. J. B. Gaskin and Mrs. T.
W. Lattey, of Camden and F. D. Marshall
of Rock Hill.
In early life Mrs. Blackwell became
a member of (the Flat Creek Baptist
church of Lancaster county, laiter
moving her membership to the Watoree
churoh of Camden. ? ThiWXgH
Vhe years "She has Kved a beautifully
consistent Christian life. Those who
knew her feel <that they have beeen
greaitly enriched by her gentle,
Ohristlike character. She loved her
neighbors and manifested her abiding
interest in them by many good deeds.
Her funeral was conducted on Wednesday
afternoon at her late residence
by Rev. J. T. Littlejohn, assisted
by Rev. G. P. Watson and Rev.
j Cm> .ton-?Her remains jwere. laid,
to rest in the Quaker cemetery by
the side of her first husband. A
beautiful floral display bore testimony
to the high esteem in which she
was held.

The trial of Herbert M. Campbell,
Virginia real estate dealer, charged
with the murder of Mary Baker, employe
of the navy department last
April, is underway in the court at
Washington, D. C. Campbell is depending
on an alibi for acquittal of
the charge, while the prosecution is
depending on circumstantial evidence
and testimony of ballistic experts,
who will aljege that the bullets which
kille dthe girl were fired from a
pistol owned bv Campbell.
