Dead in Alabama
The following death not lot* in reproduced

and will be of interest to the older
resident* of Bethune:
* "Mrs. Katherine A India Kozier,
aged )$?'{, died Friday afteriioon, May
Sth, in West Palm Beach, I'la,, at the
home of her son, I'r, l/atiehlin Hoziei
aft?-' an illness of more than three
months. Mr>. Ko/.;er had not heen
well '"tor several months prior to this
and went to her son for treatment

she grew steadily worse all the
time in spite of the very best of medical

to Alabama and have made their

Hull Cores Mule Fatally

hel had a fine mu'e gored to death hy
a hull Friday. \N hen found the mule :
was badly wounded, all of its intes- j
tines having been torn out by the j
maddened animal. Doctor Nisbet's j
chauffeur went to the rescue of the1
mule and was then the target of the J
bull. He was armed with a pitefork ?
and saved, himself. Doctor Nishet
decided that the mule was too badly I
gored to live and killed the mule
himself before the vetciinarian ar- !

been admitted to membership in Phi
Beta Kappa fraternity ut the University
of North Carolina, at which ho
has just completed his junior year.
Admission to tins fraternity is dependent
on scholastic standing. The
key, symbolic of membership, has
just been delivered to him.
Mr. Thomas is at present in the
city, and will remain foi a few days.
He vs ill then leave for M mnettpolib,
Miss., tvhere he will attend the na*

fraternity, going as a delegate from
his chapter at the university. Follow
