Who h Who ami How
Jf ho has u straw stuck in his
mouth iynl cunning the speculator,
he's a fin mcr.
If he is bareheaded and. his shirt- i
tail is hanging out' in three places
and his- socks are supportcrless, he's
a lounge lizard.
If In* walks down the street with
a smile on his face and his pocket
chocked full of papers, he's an instalment
agent.
If he walks up the street with a '
frown on his Face and his hair untrimmed
and his eyes blood-shot and
TiIs~t>fltrhrR on-pressed and his shoos ,
untied, he's an instalment buyer.
If he talks louder than the crowd'
and tells how In- heat Wall streel last
fall and how he protected himself
against any losses in 1and 20 ami
what caused the deflation, he's it liar. '
: . I
If ho recommends himself Highly
to the people and talltt about the
down-trodden laboring class and he
shakes hands vehemently with every
person he meets and raves about
neb folks getting richer, and poor
folks getting poorer, he's a politician.
If he is seen a bo til town only at
flight and complains about the high
cost of fruit jars and whispers a ,
great deal to Dick, Tom and Harry, (
and pays cash cat her than give
checks and demands the same from
others, he's a bootlegger.
Hut jf she lounges around the .
house all morning in a kimono with
her head wrapjx'd up in a towel and
lets the kids get olf to school with-'
out being projrerfy prepared both ,
mentally and physically, she's a
mighty sorry wife and mother and
housekeeper and the old man is henpecked.
However, if she rides around ull
day in her daddy's "one-third down
and balance on easy terms" and frequents
drug stores frequently and
has no interest in her home or her
church or her neighbors, she's a
llapper, and it will take a long
stretch of poverty plus a short
stretch of matrimony to fetch her to 1
her senses.
I
Jf she uses the terms "1 heard"
and "They say" and "Don't tell anybody
I told you" and "John said" and
"Last night and this morning," she's
a gossiper and should have her phone
and tongue taken out at once.
Hut it he and she both speak of
our line children and our good preacher
and our * xcellent choir and our
wonderful school system and our lit-(
tie home and our delightful neighbors
and our good friends and our
patient-and-etficient doctor and how
pretty the whole world is with her
flowers and sunshine and showers,
they are the salt of the earth and
deserve to be loved and respected.
