Mrs. John V^lepigue was the delightful
hostess at four tables of
bridge on Thursday afternoon last,
entertaining the bridge club of which
she is a member.
Quantities of fall flowers were j
used in the living room where the
games were played. Other guests
besides the club members were: Mrs.
i Withers Trotter, Henry Savage,
Jr? and Mrs. Hunter Lang. At the
conclusion of the game a delicious

day evening at their home on Fair
street, honoring Miss Cecile Truesdale
and Mr. William Lamar Davis, whose
marriage on December 10 has centered
the ^interest of many friends
for several weeks. Eight guests were
present^ and the occasion was delightful
in every way. Later in the
eveninic, bridge was .'enjoyed and the
1 hostess presented each of the hbnor
guests with attractive mementoes of
the evening.

I February, and Miss Cecile Truesdale,
* whose marriage to Mr. Lamar Davis
occurred - Tuesday, .were honor guests
at a lovely card party on Saturday
afternoon when MrA. Lewis Lee Clyburn
and Mrs. George Coleman en
tertained at the former's home on
Broad street. The four tables were
, arranged in the living room where
pink carnations were used in the decorations.
The brides-ele6t places were
marked with shoulder corsages of
sweetheart roses. The highest score
for the afternoon was made by Mrs.
Donald Morrison, i The consolation
was won by cutting a large cake in
which was placed a ring. Miss Mar1
garet Mills cut. the lucky' slice and
: was presented with the prize. Each

j with appropriate gifts. After the
game a delicious ice course was

Mrs. A. S. Llewellyn left on Friday
for Richmond wherie she will be joinec

Mrq. Miller Boykin's friends will
be glad to learn she is improving after
a severe illness. She is a patient
at the Camden Hospital.
Mrs. E. L, Wooten, Mrs. D. O.
Houser and Mrs. W. L. Wooten spent
a few days in Charlotte last week, the
guests of Mrs. S. B. McLane.'
Mr. Karl P. Abbott and family
have returned and are at the Kirkwood.
He announces the Kirk wood

Friends of Mr. C. W. Evans will
be sorry to learn that he is in the
Camden Hospital where he was carried
on Monday when he developed
a bad case of flu.

Mr. and Mrs.. W. R, Bonsai, Jr.,
who have bepn living on Chestnut
street, have recently moved into the
lovely old residence on Lyttleton, the
home of the late Miss Kate Villepigue.

expected to arrive the latter part of
this week and open their handsome

Rev. George Pierce Watson, of the
Lyttleton Street Methodist church is
a patient at the Camden Hospital.

for him a speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Moseley and
family have moved to the late home
of Mr. George Moseley about six
miles south of Camden. Mr. and Mrs.
J. R. Belk and daughter have moved
to the home lately occupied by Mi\
and Mrs. Moseley on Monument Park.

given in their chapter building, the

1929, to watch the old year out and
the new year in. The rooms will be
beautifully decorated in Southern
smilax and soft shaded lights. The
dances given by this organization are
among the most delightful of Camden's
social affairs. The proceeds
will go in payment of the new roof
and other necessary improvemnets for
the preservation of this very historic
old building. The tickets for the
occasion will be $1.00 and may be
purchased at the door.

the Wednesday afternoon bridge club

The marriage of Miss Cecils Eve
lyn Truesdale and Mr. William
I.amar Davie, waa solemnized on
Tuesday, Decern in-r 10, at high noon,
in the Washington Street Methodist
church, Columbia, with the Rev. C.
C. .Herbert, pastor, officiating.
The bride wore a becoming tan
tweed ensemble, with trimmings of
fox fur and ull the accessories of I
the attractive suit were in hamonlzing
tones. Her corsage was of butterfly
roses and white sweet peas.
Miss Doree Truesdale, sister of the
bride, and Mr. Basil Bruce, of Camden,
were the only attendants. Miss
Truesdale being attractively dressed
in brown crepe, with accessories of
like color. Only the immediate fam-|
ily and a few close friends were present
at the wedding. The beautiful
ring service was used to unite the
lives of the two popular people.
The -bride, the daughter of Mr. Eddie
1'. Truesdale, is one of Camden's
loveliest young women, possessing an
attractive personality, beauty and
chai in and being a giftwl musician.
She attended Converse College where
she specialized irt music and she also
studied several summers in New
York under Arthur Frledheim.
The groom's former home is in
Gadsden, Alabama, whore his family
are well known and socially prominent.
During the year that he has
made Camden his home he "has made
many friends in social and business
ways. He is a pouular representative
of the Good Year Tire company.
Immediately after the ceremony
the young couple left by automobile
for a trip to .Southerly.cities. On
thoii return to Camden, Mr. and Mrs.
T)a\:s will make their home at the j
former home of the bride on North
Broad street.

County Teachers Association
The Kershaw County Teachers Association'
will hold the third meeting
-of the year Tuesday afternoon, December
17th at (5 o'clock. The meeting
will be held in the auditorium of
the Camden city schools.
Miss Adele Minehan, playground
di rectress of Columbia will address
the teachers in the group meeting.
After this meeting the departmental
meetings will be held and all teachers
are asked to attend both of these
meetings.
The temperature dropped to 12 degrees
below zero in sections of Kentucky
on Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. WootenHosts
The Kirkwood Bridge Club was entertained
this week by Mr. and Mrs.
W. L. Wooten ut their home on North
Mill street. This being the last meeting
of the series the prizes were
awarded and Mrs. C. P. DuBose won
the ladies prize while Mr. W. L. DePass
was winner for the men's prize.
After cards refreshments were served.
