Death of Mr. Cauthofe
Walter Cauthen, 00 yearn of age,
died this morning at 11:30 o'clock a;
the homo of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Cauthen,
the former his brother, with
whom he had made his hoipe for the
past thr^e years. He had been in declining
health for several years and
j in a critical condition since last Tuesday,
when he suffered a stroke of
paralysis, followed by a more severe
stroke yesterday,
Mr, Cauthen was the son of the
late James Cauthen and the late Mrs,
Annie Bell Cauthen, of Flat Hock, in
Kershaw county, where ho was born
and reared. <He was twice married
and is survived by one daughter by
his first marriage, Mrs. W. H. Garlington,
of Raleigh, N. C. One brother,
J. Claude Cauthen, of this city;
and one sister, Mrs. Dan Kirkley, of
Kershaw, also survive.
The funeral services will 'be conducted
tomorrow morning at 9:00
o'clock from the residence of Mr. and
Mrs. Cauthen, on Marion street, by
Or. B; R. Tumipseed, of St. John's
Methodist church. The remains will
be taken to Damascus church cemetery
near Westville for interment.?

Monkey Fared Owl* Found
In front of the Sanitary Barber
i whop has been it cage of monkey face
owls that have attracted much attention
during the past few days. These
birds are very odd looking and their
action* rather peculiar. They were
caught in a tree at the home of Mrs.
Ernest Moore when some linemen
who were working in that vicinity
noticed a peculiar nest. On investigation
they found six little monkey
