The Association of Master Barbers
of North Carolina have perfected
plans for the introduction of a bill
in the next session of the legislature
regarding the licensing of every barber
in the state and placing all barbel'
shops under the. jurisdiction of
the State Board of Health. The bill
would require inspectors to visit the
various barber shops throughout the
State and see that they come up to
certain requirements. Twenty-four
states in the union now have laws
regurding the licensing of barbers.
The Goodyear Tire and Rubber
.company of Akron, Ohio, is to erect
a plant at Gudsden, Ala. The new
tire factory will cost $10,000,000 and
employ 1,800 or more persons.

death by the garoote, the first woman
to be so executed.
Death of Mr. Drakeford
funeral services for William J.
Drakeford, seventy-nine year old naive
and resident of this county who
died by his own hand near here yesterday,
will be held at the Drakeford
burial ground fifteen miles north of
this city this afternoon.

that the aged man sent a 32-caliber
revolver bullet through his heart, dem*1/'hat
