Mr* Frank W. Spencer and his sister,
Miss Spencer, both of Massachusetts,
arrived in Camden on Wednesday
of this week. They are
stopping this season with Mrs. R. W.
White at her home on North Lyttleton
Street. Mr. Spencer and Miss
Spencer are pleasantly remembered
in Camden where they have spent
several seasons aud their many
friends here welcome them back.

holidays at Winthrop this week the

Death of Little Girl
Little Alice Croff, aged seven years,
died at the Cumden Hospital on SatUr
day, December 17th, and was feufttd
at Antioch churchyard 11 o'clock, December
18th. She was a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Croff, qf the
Antioch community. Alice was in the
second grade of Antioch school. She
had been sick only a short while with
flu, it later developing into pneumonia
from which she died.
Senator King, of Utah, is s7id to be
planning to introduce a senate bill to
prohibit the Federal Reserve banking
system making loans or extending
other forms of credit to stock
brokers and others when the money
is to be used for purely speculative
purposes. s v

Christmas Meeting Bible Class
The members of the Ladies Bible
class of the Lyttleton Street Methodist
church were guests of honor at a
Christmas meeting Sunday afternoon,
frotn 4 to 6 o'clock at the home oa
the class teacher, Mrs. N. C. Arnett.
The rooms and ha.ll of the ftome were
attractive with baskets of holly, red
berries and white carnations. Open
fires gave cheer and warmth to the
afternoon's farge and interested number
present. .
The class report of the year's activity
showed thorwork successful in
all lines. The class room was remodeled
and enlarged last spring and
made more comfortable and the roll
is increasing. The following program
was delightfully rendered:

presided at the piano for the variouft;
vocal numbers. tMiSs Kibble representing
the class, spoke of the love
of-the-dasd for their teacher and of
their appreciation of her untiring interest
in the work and af an expression
of their love and -friendship,
presented Mrs. Arnett with a handsome
mahogany table and book
trough combined. In gracious words,
sincere thanks for the lovely gift
were spoken by the hostess.
The doors to the south parlor were
ypened by Elsie Claire Redfearn, and
little Rufus Redfearn and the Christmas
tree in all its beauty stood repealed.
Its bright lights twinkling
ind sending real Christmas cheer to
?ach heart. A dainty handmade
gift was presented to each member of
the class by Mrs. Arnett and a
stocking full of nuts and candy given
bo each guest present, Mrs. Rebecca
West, having made the beet attend?T":

ance record for the year, received a
special gift. Mrs. West wks not absent
from Sunday school for fourteen
months and last year, too, she won
the prize for attendance.
It will be of interest to the sixty
guests who admired the cedar used
as the Christmas tree to know that
the lovely tree was dug with soil on
the roots, placed in a box and on
.Monday was planted out of doors
where it shall be given careful atI
tention and helped pj -become another
of Camden's beautiful evergreen
trees.'
< After the singing of the Doxology,
the delightful - afternoon came to. a
close each guest carrying to her home
a fresh gladness for the "good tidings
of great joy?the birth of a Savior,
'which is Christ the Lord."

Meeting of U. D. C. Chapter
An unusually large, and interesting
' meeting of the John D. Kennedy
ChdptS was held Monday afternoon
of last week at the home of Mrs. r
James Burns, with Mrs. Coleman as
'assistant hostess. rooms wero
bright with lovely pot plants and cut
flowers. Twenty membera were present.
The meetipg was called to order
by the president. Minutes read and
reports he^rd from committees.
Mrs. S. fc. Zemp, Mrs. H. M. Sill
and Mrs. O. H. Baum were appointed
to select subjects for the essay to
i be handed to Mr. Richards as soon
.* as possible in order that the scholars
may begin to write their essays.
