The Camden Chronicle is co-operating with Santa this yew, as it has in the past, sending each week a copy for him to read and learn about the children here before he makes that iinal trip that will bring happiness into so many hearts. /There b one thing Santa has requested the Chronicle to do for him before the twenty-fifth of December, and that is, to have every boy and girl who are its readers write him a letter telling him just what they wane him to bring them Christmas Five night. These letters will be published in the issues of the Chronicle on December 14 and 21st, Old Santa will get copies of these letters in time to greatly aid him in filling up 1^8 sled just before he starts that long trip. So children, get out your pencil and paper and write Santa a letter telling him just what you want to, and at the same time make your wishes known. Cochian today on two^South Carolina banket* who pleaded guilty to indictments charging' them with embeuslemcn*. and misapplication of national bank funds. I. T. Welling, cashier of the Ca'olina National hank of Darlington, vaa sentenced to serve eight years, while S. G. Godfrey, vice president and cashier of the First National bank of Cheraw received the shorter t#rm. Welling was charged with being $130(000 short in his accounts, while an audit of Godfrey's books thus fashowed a shortage of $56,000. , Both banks involved closed last month, the closing of the Cheraw institution involving several branch banks throughout that section of the state. Godfrey is a brother of William Godfrey, president of the Cheraw bank. ( Indictment* were returned yeaterday against both cashiers by the fedoral grand Jury along witfrTfUe^UjU* against State Senator F. J. The automobile license inspector operating in Cherokee and Spartan burg counties reports the arrest and punishment of a circuit judge, a recorder and- u magistrate. The juc^e acted like any other crook, for when arrested for driving without i license, he borrowed a plate to put on his car and was arrested and fined for that second offense. The inspector, B. G. Spencer, refuses to divulge his identity and an investigation by the legislature which alone can impeach judges is not likely. That same inspector collected $6,173 to November 20, the largest amount by any inspector in the state. The courts of France have refused to honor the extradition request of the United States for H. M. Blackmer, missing Teapot Dome witness, who is wanted on indictments charging him with waking false income ta# re| turns at Denver, Col.
