The Style Show
I went to a style show a few nights
ago. My wife went with nie. She
always goes to style shows ansoforth
with me. It was in one of our
theatres. My wife is afraid for me
to go to a show (where a great many
women are on display) by myself.
She seems to think that I might go
; to sleep and the manager would lock
i me up in the show, and I'd have to
; stay there all night by myself. I apj
predate her precautionary measures.
I am sleepy-headed, sorter.
I like the new fall dresses fine, except
some of them were just a little
i bit too long. In fact, one of them
was so long a feller couldn't see nior'n
about two-thirds of the girl's knees.
As soon as the management found
: out that nobody clapped their hands
, or otherwise encored the model that
had on the long dress, they quit showing
the long dresses.
Out of the 8 or 10 gowns (that's
what they called them, "gowns") put
on exhibition, 99 and 44 lOOths percent
of the knees (plus) were visible
' to the naked eye, and specks and spyI
glasses were not needed at all, and
everybody consequently enjoyed a
.good time. They were cut about as
Ijlow as they were cut high, and one
I'of them was so thick you couldn't
see whether she had on anything else
(or not. Personally, I nm bitterly op!;
posed to Hoover and thick dresses.

1 don't recall, but 1 think some of
the models had on hats and slippers
l am sure all of them had on stockings.
I simply didn't pay much attention
to everything. 1 notice that
the hose are to be held up just as
they have been held up for the past
6 months. No changes in design or
pattern were observed, except everything
is leaning otrongly toward llesbeolor
and light pink. It is rumored
in social circles that underwear will
be worn again, and possibly ear-bobs,
and inebbe side-combs, and probably
saftely pins, and undoubtedly paint
and powders. (Then my wife woke
me up and we went on home without
saying a word. I fear she thinks I'm
stupid).

over Somerset, Pa., Asst. Secretary
of War Charles R. Robbins attempted

passenger compartment and tripped
and fell to the floor of the fuselage.
He sustained a broken collar hone and

When a radio aerial he was erecting

His wife, seeing flames shoot about
her husband's body, ran to assist him.
