In February, 1927, a great conference of home thirty patriotic women'* organizations met in the city of Washington, Mrs. Alfred J. Bresaeau, the president general of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Mrs. Adalin W. McCauly, national president of the American Legion Auxiliary, called this patriotic conference on National liefenae, as a means of planning to combat the communist or world revolutionary movement, that la getting auch a stronghold on America. , This is. to be done by education and instruction of the womens organizations, that they may not be alarmists, but that they may be on the alert and oh guard for the security of America. As one authority stated, "There is a menace that is striking day after day with constantly increasing power ut the very foundation of our Republic. The time to act is now?the danger is apathy?the enemies of Americu count upon the failure of the right thinking American generally, to arouse to the danger in time." There are many isms?but very little difference among them?Communism, Socialism, Bolshevism, Sovietism. The germ of the present dav socialism is found in the old cult, known as the order of the Illuminati, founded in Bavaria in 1776, by Adam Weishaupt. Its six foundation principles are the same today as they were then? The destruction of government The destruction of patriotism The destruction of property rights. The destruction of right of inheritance The destruction of religion The destruction of marriage relations The Communist are appealing to the women of the country to work for the disarmament of the nation, as a means of establishing a world peace. Naturally she is misled by false doc- ' trines, which are "far from the sacred cause of peace. So these ultra-pacifist organizations have developed all over the country, opposing all plans of the government and of patriotic authorities to establish wise provisions for the protection of America in case of war. The Auxiliary is peaceloving, but not pacifist, and agree with the defence provided by national defense, act of 1920, which provides a standing army, that.is not large; a reasonable. National Guard, a safe reserve force, the citizens military truining camp, the Naval program, the Air service program, and proper development of the Chemical Bureau, a plan which is our surest and wisest insurance for peace. In every country except Germany, there is a large standing army. France is afraid of Italy today, because of her large standing army, and the need of more territory. Since the "Society of Illuminati" was fonped, there has (been an intent to use the women in working out the schemes of the leader*, Weishaupt, the leader said "Through women we may work the best in this world" and today the very idea is being put into practice by the pernicious influences at work in our Republic. * Karl Marx organised the first international Communist group, known as the first International, which caused discontent and dissatisfaction among the people which finally culminated in the French revolution, and also responsible for the terrible blood shed in the Paris commune, after the overthrow of the French government in 1871. ' . Another branch of the Communist movement is destruction of religion, which is the advancement of Atheism. As American Legion Auxiliary, it is our duty to keep in touch with our schools, to know what text books are used and know about the speakers which come to speak to our children, as .Communist are attacking our young people in this way. ^ -O The Auxiliary program for the purpose of getting out the vote at election time has been successful to a considerable extent. The government can only be a government of and by the people, and for the people, when the voice of the people are heard at the polls, choosing for office those representatives who will act always for the best interest of America, and her people. Every adult woman today, muse realize that she has a distinct duty to perform in casting her ballot at every election, and she must realize that only through this method can she be sure of the kind of representatives we have in office. The American Legion and Auxiliary have been faithful in service to the men who gave their health, and ' all of their future hopes for this country, and if we faiL to grasp the need of devotion to the call of Americanism work today, we shall be making possible these conditions in America which will render their sacrifice a vain one.
