A Father's Trials.
A well-known author was valttty
endeavoring to write the other morning,
when he was repetedly interrupted
by his six-year-old son. "If you
ask me one more question," the
harassed writer declared at last. "I*il
go out and drown myself."
"Father," came the small voice,
"may I come out and see you do it."
Some Horse.
A young grocer who had a predilection
for talking in his sleep, on
several occasiqns mentioned the name
"Irene." His wife questioned him
about it.
"Oh," said .he, " that is the name of
a horse."
A few days later when he came
home he asked his wife for the news
of the day.
"Nothing exciting happened," she
said, "except your 'horse called you
up several ^nes."
The opal was once prized by the
ancients above all other stones.
