nearer he seemed to be sparring for
a death dealing opening, and when j
within about 15 feet of the determined
fighter, gave a terrific lunge, but the
little fighter, who was long trained
for such moves, again sidestepped,

to the dusty arena floor, and hundreds,
of Mexicans loudly shouted, many <>f

We next went to the City Hall
and were granted an interview by

one saloon that ha/1 a bar 300 feet
long, and on big days employes 50
bartenders. Most every saloon had
restaurants, dancing floors and gambling
machito s that were well patronize/1.
In visiting the gambling
houses we noticed that the games included
Fan . Craps, Klondike, Roulette,
and Keno, all of which were
well patronized by men and women.
We visited one of the game-cock pits
and saw two roosters turned loose
in a small ring and in less than
a minute one slashed the other to
death with the razor sharp steel spurs
bound to his legs.
After seeing enough of the socalled
gay life of Tia Juana, we
headed Old Faithful toward San
Diego. Next morning the writer was
granted an interview by Harry C.
Clark, Honorable Mayor, who kindly
told us of the rapid growth and the
many attractions of his city. We

Ilalboa Park of 1 400 acres, M isxion
Cliff Gardens, Tent City and many

horticultural extension work in South j

being conducted at McBee, S. C. From

development of new agricultural enterprises,
