were the officers. They fired
upon the fleeing car and a stray bullet
struck the man in the back of
the head, instantly killing him. Coroner
Holcombe held an inquest and
the verdict of the jury was that "the
deceased came to hi* - death by being
struck by a stray bullet fired by officer*

Pallbearers Left The Corpse Behind
Seaford, Del., May 28.?An unprecedented
occurrence in Southern Delaware
was reported yesterday aftermain
at the funeral and burial services
of Harland Put?ey, aged .*>12. The services
were held at the home of Mrs.
Kmma J. ("only. <>n Seaford-Laurel
state highway, and was attended by
about two hundred mourners.
The Rev. H. Uheebee. pastor of
Bethel M. K. Church, was the officiating
minister. After the funeral services
the procession started for Laurel
Hill cemetery, three miles away,
headed by the funeral car of IIarley
Riggin, undertaker, of Laurel.
The procession had traveled about
a .mile of the distance when scott/fl
