William Caper* Miller, K#q, ?enior
member of the law firm of Miller,
Huger, Wilbur &. Miller, died Friday
afternoon at hm rexidence, 138 Wentworth
street, Charleston, in his seventieth
year He had been in feeble
health for some time and for the pas'
few. days his condition had been critical.
One of the outstanding members
of the South Carolina bar, he had
practiced in Charleston for nearly
fort> six >ear?. His clientele includ
ed leading concerns in C harleston.
Mrs. Valhe Hinson, daughter .of
\S M Hayes of the New Bethel aec
tion of Lancaster county, was killed
Saturday night in an automobile ac
cident, and Iwu children are at the
point of death in a Gaatonia hospital.
The accident occurred in (lastonia and
< . hd Hinson, driver of the automo
bile "containing his family, was described
by witnesses as racing with
another <ar along Second avenue.
Richard Swails, IK, of Andrews,
'was killed Thursday night on tin
j/fapway load five miles south of Andrews

woman crumpled under the car with
his neck broken.
A jury hearing the case of the
state against Kllis Vassar, 15, at Anderson,
on Saturday, rendered a verdict
of guilty of murder with recommendation
to mercy. The boy wacharged
with the murder of hifather,
