Ammunition Found on River Bottom
Raleigh, March 30.? Highway commission
officials today made public
the finding of a cache of Confederate
muskets and ammunition found by
them seven feet below the bottom of
Ueep River, between High Point and
Greensboro.
Tradition has it that two carloads
<A ammunition were shipped from
Richmond to North Carolina during
the war between the states. The
federal force;* succeeded in burning
a railroad bridge over Dee o River
before the Confederate train crossed.
Southern soldiers threw the supplies '
into the river to keep the enemy from
using them.
United States Senator George H.
Moses of New Hampshire, predicted
in New York Tuesday night, thai
President Coolidge will not be a candidate
for a third term.
At least fourteen men are reported
to have been killed and four others
are reported missing as a result of
an explosion at an oil refinery at
Parco, W_yo., Wednesday. The subsequent
fire caused a property loss of
half a million dollars.

Council of the City of Camden, Kershaw
County, South Carolina, in regular
council assembled:

to the City of Camden on April 1st,
1924, by abutting property owners on
assessments against abutting property
on the following streets in the

impro\ ements to the streets have heen
made, and t<> meet part of the costs
of which such assessments have been
laid against the abutting property, is
hereby declared ti have been the sum
of Twelve Thousand One Hundred

to be paid in annual installments

Sec. 3. That the City of Camden
do Issue its certificates of indebtedness
in the amount of Eight Thousand
Eight Hundred ($8,800.00) Dollars,
representing part of the moneydue
to the City by property owners
as deferred payments or installments
upon the assessments laid tipon abutting
property on the streets enumerated
in Section 1 of this ordinance,
which said certificates- of indebtedness
shall be in denominations of
Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars ami
One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars each,,
numbered 1 to 44, * inclusive, shall
carry interest at the rate of six (6)
r per cent per annum, payable semi.
annually on the 1st days of April
and October of each year, ami be
dated as of the 1st of April, 1927,
and shall be payable and redeemable
