George Wilson are spending several weeks in Philadelphia. Mrs. H. H. Haum and Mrs. Sam Karesh motored to Spartanburg last week tp attend the state Sisterhood convention. I)r. and Mrs, A. W. Humphries have returned from a trip to Abbeville where they visited relatives of Mrs. Humphries. Mrs. F. S. Hamlin of Haverhill, Mass., is the guest at the home of Mrs. 11. W. White for the remainder of the season. Mr. and Mrs.' Laffitte of liethune were guests Sunday at the home of Dr. and Mrs. A. W. Humphries on Laurens street. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Houston of St. Petersburg, Fla., are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Green on Fair street. The friends of Mrs. A. A. Sanders will regret to learn that she is ill at'the home of her sister, Mrs. McKnight, in Sumter. j* t.s Miss Stella Hall and Mrs. S. B. Hall are" spending some time in Jacksonville0 and other Florida cities with relatives and friends. Messrs. R. N. Shannon, James DeLoache, Jr., and John K. deLoach attended the S. A. E. banquet in Columbia on Tuesday night at the Jefferson hotel. Mrs. C. M. Coleman, Mrs. John T. Mackey, and Mrs. N. R. Goodale attended the Federation of Women's Clubs which met in Columbia this week. Misses Laurie Campbell of the University of South Carolina and Emma Weeks of Columbia were guests last week-end ifi Camden of Mrs. H. L. Bradford. Mr. Thomas Lenoir of Fort Pierce, Fla., has been on a visit to Camden for the past week. Mr. Lenoir is one of the Camden boys who has made good in the land of flowers. Mr. Addison P. Wilson of C.anandarguu, N. Y., who is managing Spring Hill Plantation for Mr. Clarke Williams of New York, is "Stopping at of Mrs. R. W. White. Mrs. Sa*ah K. Winkier, who has been doing publicity work for The Chronicle and many of the Northern and Eastern leaves today for her home in New York. She will very likely return to Camden for another season. Mrs. J. M. Jennings, formerly Miss Madaline Workman of Camden, her son, It. H. Jennings* her daughter, Miss Elizabeth Jennings and niece, Miss Lenora Jennings, motored over from Winnsboro on Monday for a visit to Mrs. Jennings' sister, Mrs. R. W. White, on Lyttleton street. Pictures of the young ladies app<wred in Tampa's Sunday T ribuwf?^ Death at Wateree Mill Mrs. Mary E. Boyee, aged 70 years, | wife of Mr. S. J. Boyce, of the Wateree Mill village died on Tuesday and the funeral and interment took place at Mt.-Pisgah church in the Buffalo section of the county on Wednesday. Mrs. Boyce is survived by her husband and several grown children. Miss Caroline Wooten Entertains Miss Caroline Wooten complimented her friend, Miss Farley, with an elaborate buffet dinner on Monday night at her home on Fair street. Ten couples enjoyed Miss Wooten'c hospitality -and were joined later by several young men when dancing became thg feature of the evening. Tuesday the young people motored back to Converse after a short but very delightful holiday. College Set Entertained The Betty Thomas Coffee Shop was the scene of a charming luncheon given by Miss Martha Singleton in honor of the visiting Converse girls on Monday afternoon. League of Grace Kpiaeopal church gave a swing to the Wateree Mill school playground. The brass plate which was marked "Y.P.S.L.," lid not convey to the children's mind , just what these letters meant so Miss Krnestine Batoman, principal of the school, invited the league to go out and become acquainted with her scholars. This they did lust Saturday afternoon, giving a regular party to the hundred And sixty children present with ice cream for refreshments. One of our Northern visitors had taken moving pictures of these children on h former occasion and these were shown as a part of Saturday's program. It was hard to decide which enjoyed the affair most, the league or the little guests. Quite a number of tourists as well us townspeople were present also and all enjoyed the occasion immensely. Springdale Property Sold The Springdale property, located a few miles northwest of Camden, has been sold to a party of Northern gentlemen now wintering in Camden, but no announced p)ans have been made as to what the property will be used for. It was formerly known as the Cantey place and the old-fashioned residence had been remodelled and changed into u club house. The property of late years had passed into the hands of the Rev. M. .1. Reddin, formerly rector of Saint Mary's parish, but who is now residing in Orangeburg. . The tract of land comprises five hundred acres and we learn that other property adjacent has also been purchased. Young Couple of Camden Marry J Of interest to a wtffe circle of j friends throughout South Carolina, I where the young couple are socially J prominent, will be the announcement! of the marriage on Wednesday night of Miss Emily Rives Lang and Mr. George Rhame Coleman. The wedding was solemnized at the parsonage of the Lyttleton Street Methodist church in this city with Rev. J. T. Peeler as the officiating minister and was witnessed by a number of rela I | tives and friends. The bride was atI tended by her sister, Mrs. J. R. j Montgomery, with Brevard Boykin | acting as groomsman. Mrs. Coleman is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. .J.oseph Kershaw Lang of this city and is a young woman I whose gracious manner and lovable personality have won an endearing place in the hearts of all who have been privileged her acquaintance. She was educated at Winthrop college and more recently was a student at Flora McDonald college at Red Springs,) N. C. Mr. Coleman, the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Coleman of this city, at tended the University of South Carolina and was well and quite favorably known unions the social and fraternal circles of his school. Since leaving college, he has served a number of local business interests in a responsible way and is at present connected with the cotton firm of W. J. Mayfield. 4sr ?
