Columbia, Oct. 1.?Formation of a now county from Horry territory, pos ibly to be called "Wa<$amaw," is asked in a petition laid before Governor McLcod today by a delegation of Ave persons from the northern section of Horry County. The petition was said to contain 1,700 signatures of residents in the territory involved. The land included in the proposed county, said J. P. Hickman, mayor of Loris, who headed the delegation, is about fifteen miles long and lies along the North Carolina border. It is a trucking, tobacco and strawberry section.
