From then the work will pro ceed, it is hoped, until the building is completed* For many months thin congregation hatt been working to raise funds to build u new church, the old church in which they had been worshiping for more than fifty years being old, dilapidated, and, by many, thought to be unsafe. , On Sunday morning, March UUJh, just before the Sunday School as sembled, a fire started on the roof of the church and burned very rap* idly. The quick response and excel lent work of the firemen saved the building from complete destruction, but it was rendered useless for tha services, the entire joof having burn til away. A meeting of the church officials was called by the pastor, Ho v. H. F, Bradford, and it was then jgcldfld that it would be necessary at once to rebuild. Architect .1. II. Sams of Columbia was secured to draw the plans for the new building which will be of brick. The ground breaking will be* pre ceded by a rally on Sunday, when the church members and the friends of the church will be given an op portunity to contribute to the build ing fund; and by a service Monday morning at ten o'clock on the church v \ grounds on DeKalb street. This ser vice will consist of singing, and Ad* dresses by Dr. J. P. Pickett, Attorney H. F. McGirt and others. The friends of the church, both white and colored, are invited to this service. ; The passing of old Trinity removes one of the landmarks of Camden. The church was bought from the white Methodists more than fifty years ago by the colored Methodists, who then had their church on the other side of the street. There are members of both races who regtet to. see the old,. landmark removed. B. F. Bradford. N.
