Negro Man LeaVeg Home and Crops
. Center, Ala., April. 15. ? Leaving his
farm on which a crop already has
< tar ted to grow, Will Sharpe, negro
farmer of near Pleasant Gap, soon
will be on his way to newer fields.
Sharpe recently was released from
custody after he had admitted in
court that he had shot and killed a
member of* a masked band of men
who attempted ' to force an entrance
into his home. *
The freedom of the negro was
g .anted after he had admitted the
killing, and after the solicitor had
stiil he was no longer aible to hold
Sharpe because no witnesses had
appeared to press the case against
him.
The band which visited Shaipe had
warned him to leave or take the conr
Mquenees, and, according to the ne
K r< ? . had tried to enter to give "him
;i flogging. He fired through the
doorway, dispersing the group and
kiliinn- one member.
