allow the general public of Rock Hill
to know that they had failed on
sufficient school work to bar them
from attending their further classes
at Winthrop college, several students
who, live in this ci^y Continued to go
to the campu* regularly each day and
there spend the early hours in some
diversion, it was learned here today.
Few people knew, of the real circum
stances in the cases and not until
continued whispers circulated reck
lessly was the stbry revealed. Some
say that the several (three or four)
girls kept their secret well and that
the parents do not know the facts as
they stand. However, this is dis
puted by others flf their friends.
The girls, it is known, went tb
the campus each morning at the
chapel hour with their school book3
and remained there in student rooms
or on the campus until those in their
classes had completed their day's
work. They were not permitted to
attend the classes, it is said, where
they failed during second term to
meet' the standard set by the authorK,
ties in school work. In at least two
of the cases, the girls had quite a
distance to walk to the college, it is
pointed Out.
The college authorities were not
appraised of the fact, it is under
stood.
