Mrs. W. B. deLoaeJi suggested that
frickerson's monument be decorated

rlirs, now in the D< A. U. Chapter
Mouse, many of them we understand
arc valuable and should be well pre
-rived or returned to the families
that donated them.4
The name of Mrs. Prank Proctor
was proposed and accepted for mem
bership, the registrar was requested
to send Mrs. Proctor application
pupers or blanks.
A motion Was made and carried
to pay the expenses of the chapter
president and one delegate to the an
nual state convention, this is to be
a standing rule. Q
This was the last meeting of the
-oason and was especially delightful
in every particular. Mi8s Virginia
Clarke charmed the company with a
recitation and Mrs.- Whit Lenoir 'gave
two piano selections that were gen
erously applauded. w
The hostesses served cits cream and
pound cake.
The chapter adjourned to 'meet
again in September.
Library Notes.
Several new books have been added
to the rent shelf recently and can be
read for ten cents each. These are
later put on the free shelves. Sev
eral beautiful and interesting books
on bird-life have been recently added
to the library, the gift of Mr. Joseph
Crocker, of Boston and Camden. Tne
librarian was for a while undecided
whether to let these go out or only
bp read in the library. But as we
are anxious for the girls and boys to
become better acquainted with the
many beautiful birds, learn to love
and protect them, we have decided to
loan them \vith a promise that the
borrower will be very careful and re
turn them promptly. Every year the
library closes for two weeks to give
the librarian an annual vacation, this
year it will be closed from Monday,
June lGth. Patrons are asked to get
a two weeks' supply of reading mat
ter before C o'clock Saturday evening,
June 14th. We ?ve this notice, in
time so that no ?me neetl be incon
venienced or disappointed, the pub
ic has ten days to bring, in over-due
hooks and get out others. Will the
reader who got "Never The Twain
Shall Meet," by Peter B. Kyne, please
return it or communicate with the
librarian. "The Wrath To Gome,"
came in promptly which proves that
advertising pays.
"When The Kissing Has To Stop"
The Young People's Service League
of St. John's Episcopal church," Col
ombia, will give in the Camden
school auditorium on June 9, at 8:80
p.m., a play entitled, "When the
Kissing ha? to Stop." This play is
a three act modern comedy written
and directed by Mrs. James Y. Perry
of Columbia, a councilor of the
league. The cast is made up of mem
bers of the league, among whom are:

returned home last week to spend her

afternoon dress of cocoa brown crepe
with sand colored trimmings and hat

Miss May Jones attended her sister
and was becomingly dressed in brown
crepe de chine and carried an arm
bouquet of sweet peas. Mr. A. Team
acted as best man for his brother.
After a short wedding trip, Mr. and
Mrs. ?Team will return to Asheville

Legion Auxiliary Reorganizes.
The Camden unit of the Auxiliary
to the American Legion has been re
organized and the following have
been duly elected as officers: Mrs.
S. C. Zemp, president; Mrs. A. M.
McLeod, vice-president; Mrs. Sam
Karesh, secretary; Miss Emmie Alex
ander, treasuror; Mrs. L. H. Schenk,

Catholic Church Service*.
Services at the Catholic church on
Pentecost Sunday, June 8th, will be
as follows: Sunday school at 9 a.m.;
mass at 10 a.m., sermon on, "The*
Meaning of Pentecost." All are cor

Car Load of Dewberries.
Mr. L. I. Guion, of Lugoff, shipped
his first car load of dewberries to
New York one day this week. He
has gone into the cultivation of dew
berries and peaches .on quite a large
scale on his farm in West Wateree.
A siding has been built from the Sea
board at Lugoff to his packing house
and the fruit is shipped north in re
frigerator cars.

impressive wedding yesterday after
noon at 4:510 o'clock when Miss Daisy
Ferguson of Abbeville became the
bride of Adicfees Kirkland of Cam
den. Both young people are well
known and prominently connected in
Columbia and the bride formerly re
sided here. Members of their fam
ilies and friends came from Camden,
York, Abbeville and Winnsboro. The
bride's only attendant was Mrs. Sher
borne Yardley, the bridegroom's
sister, and the bridegroom had as hU
best man his brother, Lawrence Kirk
land of Camden.
?i. Little Randolph Kirkland, a nephew
of the bridegroom,* and Emma Jane
Reese of Winnsboro were flower boy
and girl, the boy wearing a white sutt
and the little girl a yellow organdie
frock. The bride wore a gown of
white jgeorgette with point lace veil
fastened with pearl coronet and
carried a bouquet of bride's roses
showered with swansonia. Mrs.
Yardley was in maize voile with wide
I brimmed hat of old blue straw and
carried a hat basket of ragged robins.
The Rev. H. F. Schroeter, rector of
the Good Shephord, performed the
ceremony and the weeding march was
played by the church organist, Perry
Teeple. The ushers were Theodore
deLoaclk of Winnsboro and Randolph
Kirkland of Camden.
After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs.
Yardley gave an informal reception
for relatives and out of town guests
at their home on Laurel street. The
reception rooms were aglow with gar
den fljQwers and the dining room was
in white and green. Upon the table,
spread with filet lace, was placed a
silver basket of shasta daisies and
ferns and tall silver candlesticks
holding white candles. At the punch
bowl Misses Vallie Brown and Fay
Kirkland served and there were
sweets and other light refreshments.
A beautiful array of wedding pres
ents Was set forth.
