Killing "Heartily Approved."
Unionlown, Pa., Jan. 2Ji. ? A coro
ner's jury, the foreman of which was
a woman, today '"heartily approved''
the killing of Henry Thomas, a negro,
at Dearth, January 16, by Ida McNeal,
a negress, who accused thu man of
attacking her nine year old daughter.
Professor Earle Requested to Act.
Gleniaon Coibg^, Jan. 25. ? The
trustees of Clemson met in an infor
mal session today and asked Dr. S.
B. Kuiv to act as president until fur
ther notice. Dr. Earle had previously
taken charge on instruction from Sen
ator Alan .Johnstone, chairman of the
board. For about six years Dr. Earle
has acted as president in Dr. Rings'
absence.

books will be opened for the collec
tion of State, County and School
taxes from October 16th, 1923, to
March 15th, 1924. A penalty of 1 per
cent, will be added to all taxes un
pnid January 1st, 1923, 2 per cent
February 1st, 1923, and 7 per cent
March 15th, 1924.

(50) years, both inclusive, except res

pay $4.00 as a road tax except minis
ters of the Gospel actually in charge
of a congregation, teachers employed
in public schools, school trustees, and
persons permanently disabled in the
military service of this State and per
sons who served in the War Between
the. States; and all quarantine service
of this State and all residents who
may he attending school or college at
the time when said road tax shall be
come due. Persons claiming disabil
ities must present ? certificate from
two reputable physicians of this
county.
All information with reference to
taxes will be furnished upon applica

DOG TAX.
1 wish to call special attention to
the dog license tax, which can be paid
from October 15th, 1923, to February
1st, 192-1. (February 1st, 192-1. is the
last day for the payment of this tax.)
The license tax on each dog is $1.25,
and I now have the license tags to
supply owners of dogs when paying
their license tax. A dog is liable to
this tax if six months old or older on
January 1st. (A dog born June 30th,
1923. is liable to the tax January 1st.
1924.)
This is in lieu of all other taxes
or licenses on dogs, either county, mu
nicipal or otherwise
Dog license tAx issued by the
Treasurer should bear the inscription
"Dog License 1924," also show the
serial number and county. This is not
charged on the Auditor's Duplicate,
nor curried on the odinary tax re
ceipt. Separate receipt necessary.
