Mrs. E. C- von Tresckow, at present
with relatives at her old home in

great earthquake there, by reason of

Colored Attorney From Camden.
Herbert F. McGirt, a recent grad
uate of Howard law ochool, of Wash
ington, was last week admitted to
practice law in South Carolina. There
were eleven young men who auccew
fully passed the examination. One
other colored man wax admitted
from Spartanburg county. Me<?irt wa?
born and reared in Camden. lie at
tended Mather. academy, a school for
colored vl>oy? mui girls and later went
to ClafJIn University- where he grad
uated. He served overseas and was
decorated by the French for bravery
in action. Later he >sj>onf three
years at Howard law school and
graduated this summer- He i* well
thought of by both race1* and has not
yet decided where he w ill praetiee his
profusion.
