Ni ht'duled to% be made January 1. the Searl?oard Air Line railway will put its winter schedule into effect Novem ber 12. according to the announcement <>f X. (J, Ledbciter, traveling passen ger agent of the Seaboard Air Lino in Columbia. The inauguration of the uinler schedules ?will also mark the beginning of the first run otf ^he Mid Sunt It Sj>eeinl( which therefore begins <?|N>rations this year one month earlier than was the oise last year. The Seaboard, Mr. Ledbetter says, is an ti<-L|-nting a record-breaking tourist st'awm. - The initial run of the three month reason of the Florida Limited will be made, leaving New York at 6:20 o'i'loek on the afternoon of January I., the first train passing Columbia ar 1 :20 p. m.f January 2. an<i arriving in Jacksonville. Owing to the fact that lower Main Street on which my ga rage is located will soon be torn up and blocked on ac count of the paving work, I want to advise my friends that this need not interfere with work at my garage. My pa trons can reach my place by driving by way of Market Street and then into Arthur Street where it can be reached from the rear door. The train will ho composed of all Pullman, all steel equipment, fitted with the latest conveniences ami equip; inent, ami wild carry through sleepers from New York to Miami, Palm lieach, St. Petersburg. Tampa ami intermedi ate points- At Columbia the trains, both southbound and northbound, will change engines and crews to contine their trips. The Mid-South Si>ecial, the Colum bia-New York tourist train, will make its first run November 12, coincident with Hie Inauguration of the regular winter schedules. leaving New York on its first southbound* trip at 2:?>5 p. ni.. November 12. and arriving in Columbia at 11:25 o'clock the follow ing morning- The return trip will be made, leaving Columbia at 3 :05 o'clock in the afternoon, passing Washington at 7 :35 o'clock the following morning and arriving in New York at 1:30 o'clock in the afternoon. The Mid South Six^eia 1 will carry only all steel Pullmans, dining cai;s and coaches. The two trains known hist year as No. .'{(>1 and No. 302, will be designated No. 15 and No. 10 this^year. The other schedule changes to be made November 12 are confined, large ly to the speeding up of running time and to the reinstatement of trains taken off during the strike period. The schedule of No. 1, southbound, will remain practically as now with the exception that it will under the new schedule reach Columbia at 11 :40 o'clock instead 11:55 o'clock and will leave at 11:45 o'clock instead of 11 :(K) o'clock as at present. The hour of arrival in Jacksonville will remain unchanged. Train No. 2, northbound, will arrive in Columbia at 5:45 o'clock Instead of 5:30 o'clock as under the schedules now in force ami will le^ve at 5:50 o'clock instead of 5:30 o'clock as now, the run from Columbia north ward being accelerated to permit its arrival in New York at the same time as now maintained. Owsley. of Dentin. Texas, who was on Friday elected na tional commander of the American LrG gion was reared In Denton. lie is .34 years old. On completion of his course in Texas University, Owsley re turned to Denton to practice law with his father. He whs elcted to the Texas legislature and served 41 year l>efore he was appointed Lt. Colonel on CJovernor Ferguson's staff in 1914. Mr. Owsley was elected county attor ney of Denton county in 1010. but when the United .States entered the World war he resigned to enter an officers training camp. He was ap pointed major in tlxe Thirty-Sixth na tional guard division of Texas. On the arrival of the Thirty-Sixth divis ion in France, he was appointed as sistant adjutant, and later made di visional adjutant- On October 1. following the capture of DrLcourt and "the Hey to St. Dtlnne by the 30th di vision he received his commission as Lt. Colonel. Colonel Owsley repre sented his division at the Paris con ferjwee and later whh on official duty in .Scotland. Ireland and England. Col.
