most" of the railroad crossing horrors.

lowed, would save many lives.
Never approach railroad tracks thin

der control, then you will he prepared
for any emergency. You know the

your car. Ixmk them over, from time
to time.
Probably nine out of ten times there
will not be a train near enough to
check your progress over 'the tracks.
Make no effort to go across, until, by
careful use of both eyes and ears, you
have sized up the situation.
All must agree tlmt a little time
spent in trying to protect life and limbs
is a (rood invesment. We use up some
time hunting bargains in stores. Hot
ter plan to hold onto the life you jk>r
sess. No bargain counter has nnofflier
lo offer you. Whpn your end comes,
you will be a long time dead.

Maybe, when yon get near the mib
road tracks, you see a train coming,
.and the thought pops into your mind,
"1 can beat it across!" That thought
is a mere whim. Your judgement is
not speaking. In such a case, wait for
your sober second thought*

the quarter mile from the whistling
post to the crossing in fifteen .seconds.
