Civic League Notts.
The June meeting of the Civic Lea*'
mie was held in the auditorium of the
Graded school, Monday afternoon,
Juhe 13 th. The League had a* It*

Leltner gave an Interesting talk upon
the many phases of Civie Leaguo
work, and offered many helpful sug
gestions- After Mrs. Leltner's popart
ure the regular business meeting was

The play ground committee roported

tendent to the League, Miss Ernestine

t ion to begin work In the fall.
The station committee repotted that
conditions at the depots were had.

The park committees reported thetr
parks in good condition and a new
plan for engaging laborers was dis
cussed. City council is to turn over ?i
certain amount each month toj the
park committees for labor, the com
mittee chairman to hire and pay for
all work done.
The president anounced that Mr. T.
T.ce Little was forced to abandon his
children's matinee for the present. It
is hoped though that in the fall the
movement will be carried through
successfully.
The presideut then requested each
committee to meet and prepare its re
port prior to the League meetings.

Mrs. X. It. Coodale requested and
obtained a contribution of $5 from
the League for the Woodrow Wilson
memorial foundation.
It was suggested that the High
School Glee Club and the Camden
Music Club lie asked to give a light

meeting adjourned.

Drive Postponed.
Owing to the extremely hot weather j
and the absence from the city of so
many people. the drive for the WoofT
row Wilson Foundation has been post,
poned until September. The amount
collected so far has been deposited in
the First National Hank to the credit
of the Woodrow Wilson Fundation

twenty couples enjoyed the ever pop
ular dance.

SCHOLARSHIP AND ENTRANCE
EXAMINATIONS.
The examination for the award of
vacant scholarships in the University
of South Carolina and for adanission of
new students will bo held at? the County
Courthouse July 14, 1022, at 9 o. in.
Applicants must not be less "than six
teen years of age, When scholarships
are vacant after <July 14 they will be
awarded to those making the highest
average at examination, provided they
meet the conditions governing the
award. Applicants for scholarships
should write to President Currell for
scholarship application blanks. These
blanks properly filled out by the ap
plicant shpuld bo filed with President
Currell by July 10. Scholarships are
worth $100, free tuition and fees.
