dispensed all day.
Presentation of Sponsors aud Maids
There was not standing room in the
opera house at n :.'>() Wednesday even
ing when General Clarke presented the
sponsors, maids, matrons and eh a per
ones, representing almost every portion
of South Carolina. The stage was fill
ed wUh beautiful, girls and attractive
women, and like a rainbow circling-. t he
room was the grand march led by
Major General C. A. Uoed, of Ander
son. with state sponsor. Miss Nancy
Lindsay, of Camden. The crowd after
wards divided as it was too crowded
for dancing ? some going across the
street to the Woodmen Hall, oj^ors to
the I >. A. U. Chapter Hall, while o|thor*?
remained at the opera house.
The Monster Parade
The parade was "a thing of beauty."
and we may add "a joy forever," for
it will long remain in the memory of
all who saw it as one of the most
beautiful in the history of the State.
Mr. von Tresckow. as chairman of
this committee, is to be congratulated
upon it's complete success. The hun
dreds of school children in lint* with
the red and white of the Confederacy
in evidence. ' banners flying and colors
waving, was indeed an inspiring and
beautlfu! sight. As usual, the schools
honored Camden, and next the yeter
ans held the first place in the picture.
The camp scenes, light- wood fires,
fiddling mid war songs on Monument
Park, awoke memories of long ago, and
Varried many a heart and mind back
to old Virginia and "the days that are
no more."
A fish fry under TEe~dlning tent was
one pf the last, but by no means least
among the attractions offered the
guests. A large quanlty of fish,
several hundred pounds had been
caught fresh from the Wateree. and
was delightfully served by the ladies
who were pleased to add this one more
courtesy as a testimonial of their love
and esteem.
Dancing I at the opera house, Wood
man's Hall, and the old Court House
Thursday evening closed the Reunion
of 1921.? said by the Veterans in their
resolutions, to have been the very best
in the history of the Division.
Camden does not wish to "blow her
own horn," but her people do rejoice
that their efforts were a success, and
we acknowledge with much pleasure
the testimonials of appreciation that
have come to us from the officers and
members of the South Carolina Divi
sion Cnited Confederate Veterans. If
they ever care to return, the gates will
be wide open Camden is gamr and
ready t?? assume the pleasure v aud
duties of ho?t a t any lime in the fu
ture.

scene last Friday evening, the festive
occasion being in honor of the four
teenth birthday of their son. Abbott.
The rooms were bright with flowers

perhaps half a hundred enjoyed to the
fullest the games and danees. They
especially found great ? pleasure in the
old Virginia reel which seems to have
been revived in Camden, and brought
into popular favor. At any rate let us
ho|H* that this is true. Punch, cake
and candy were "'served during the
evening. All pronounced it a big suc
cess. and said they had the time of
their lives.
