It happened on jn dismal. rainy

classes of patients who were confined

fer a few of the tin cases to the ward
opened on the opposite aide of the
camp. All such cases were kept at
the extreme end of the ward, divided
from the rest of the patients by sheets
which formed a screen between the

One of my patients haul answered
the '"Final Koll Call" a few minutes
before the order came for the general
nighi moylng to begin, ami I had nent

of help at this particular time of the
night, and two negroes among the con
valescent patients had I een pressed
into service. When they arrived on
the scene, being rather busy making

Just across from (his bed was the

' on to the litter which was destined for
I the morgue, and Kansas, being by that
