Mr. Hardin, who is survived by his wife and two children, came hero from Spartannurg to become local agent for the Southern, being promoted from the Spartanburg office. Check Flasber Arrested. A few days' ago a negro claiming to be Horry Ijewls of Spartanburg, went to the National Hank of South Carolina and asked to have one of his < hecks rushed. He was told that, there must be some way of identification. The negro stated that fie was a stran ger here and asked that I he eashicr telegraph the American National Hank of Spartanburg and ascertain whether or not the cheek was good. The mes sage was sent and the cashier of that hank immediately wired a bank in Colunibi i that the man they wanted was in Sumter. They in turn wired Sumter to hold the man. He Was taken to Columbia and identified by the hank authormbs there. '? It turned out that this negro had played the same game in Columbia, after learning tlnet the real Horry l>ewis had quite an amount of funds in the. Spartanburg hank, and that tids alias Lewis had worked the game successfully and it was not de tected until the real Horry l*ow?S found his Iwink funds out of balance to the tune of at the end of the month. "That, the city place on the business streets in entire business section (two to block on each side) cans (with cover) to receive refuse, garbage, etc., and that Ordinance he passed requiring all people to throw trash and garbage into them instead of throwing on strict. "That every business bouse l>o re quired to provide themselves with can (with cover), said can to be placed at the rear of their place to receive all trash and garbage.
