of llluuilnants. Tables were arranged
attractively, ami assembled nearly all
the bridge devotees in town. l\a<li
honor guest received a lovely reminder
of the occasion, and the score prize
was won by Mfss Kathorine Itlakeney : ,
she graciously presented It to the bride
to-be, Miss Jlhetta PoLoaChe,
Mrs. Davidson received In a hand
some afternoon gown of black lace,
and wore a corsage of sweet pea and
ferns. Miss Rhetta Pel.owehe was es
pecially lovely on this occasion in
black laee over cloth of gold, and wore
pink roses. Mrs. John Stevens was
much admired in an exquisite after
noon gown of black net, artistically
beaded in jet and wort4 a corsage ojf
roses.
In the dining room the tea table was
Ik'autiful in every detail; its polished
surface wns covered with a handsome
cluuy lace cover and n sliver basket
filled with crimson Christmas berries
formed a center decoration, while wjdte
tapers gleamed through crimson shades,
The table was appointed with two
handsome Silver services, that were
presided over by Mrs. John S. Lindsay,
and Mrs. Kugcue IUakeney, Mrs. Lind
say wore, an nftcrnooiv^gown of white
georgette and the flowers were crimson
noinsettas. Mrs. Rlakeney's lovely
dress was blaek net embroidered in
siHer. and a corsage of roues.
White Ice cream ornamented with mi
cherries, old tljme pound cake, and red
and white mints carried out the color
scheme. Mrs. Vernon McDowell, and
Misses Mary Withers Kirkhmd, and
Katherine Rhikency passed the refresh
ments. "

but prettily decorated for the occasion.

Tuesday night was a big affair. It

costumes and other apparel can af
ford to play such small cities and
make it pay. Their many changes of
costmiicp in several acts was a pleas
ing feature t.n their audience. The
company has <ome of the best actors'
that travel over this part of the conn-1
try? they are artists. The Earle .sis
ters are fine, especially ''Gladys." The
platform manager. Martin Bower4*
Win, W. Oolton and Belvali Jane
French are stars. The company play
ed this city a year ago and were so
entertaining that on their return vis
