On Tuesday morning Mrs. Belton
Boykiu was hostess at a lai;ge bridge
party, and Miss T>erx>aehe was again
the giM'st of honor. The vooms of this
recently re-modeled homo were pretty,
bright and attractive on this occasion.
The score prize, a (dooming plant, was
won by Mrs. C. C. Whitaker, aud the
guest of thonor was presented with
three lovely handkerchiefs. The hos
tess served' a fruit Salad course, with
sandwiches, crackers and ten.

of hunting deer with artificial light
and fined $80 each. The methods used
is to "shine" -the eyes of the deer
with torches at night and in this war
slay the animals.
Newt Kelly has been charged by a
negro, was electrocuted at the state
prison Tuesday. He was convicted of
assaulting a young white woman in
Spartanburg county and was sentenced
to die in 1918. An appeal stayed the
