Gregory was charged with having

it was alleged be sold morphine and

first count which had to do with the
selling of morphine and a verdict of
not guilty on the< second, or cocaine

Camden Won at Orangeburg.
'The Canulen High School foot ball
team went to Orangeburg Tuesday
where they played the high school team
of that city at the Orangeburg county
fair l>cfore a large crowd. The Cam
den bovs were the victors by a score
of 12 to 7. and Camden remalns'*tthde
fen ted for the. season. ,
The next game ^o be played by
Camden will be thfo afternoon at 3:80
jxclock at the baseball . park in this
city, when they meet the Batesburg
team. Next. Friday they play Colum
bia at Columbia.
' The Camden team now stands an ex
cellent chance of winning the state

^Postmaster Trantham Is involving
bids for repainting the Camden Post
office and plans and specifications c{>n

Claims It Was by Accident But Jury
Thought Otherwise.

teeu years Is in Jail on the charge of
having shot and killed Barstow Brlnnon
near the Ilicbland county lino north of
Blaney Monday afternoon.
Simons claim* that ho was inside of a
barn about fifteen feet away and had n
pistol in his hand and that Brinnon,

door of the Irani just as he fired the
pistol through tbe door, and that if was
an aceideuT. The coroner's Jury r low
ing the remains, found that the negro's

In company with a brother and his
father ho had been hunting on the Her
mitage pond, and when getting out of
the boat lie pulled the gun out of the

him. The gun fired and the load

fatal wound.
Ilis father and brtithor witnessed
the atrcldeiit and before dying lie made

Fatal Cutting Affair on Mflhi Street
at Midday.

Claud Williams. a negro man who re
sides on a farm a few miles northwest
of Camden. had ids throat cut Monday
about midday an<l died a short while
a f forwards at t lie Camden hospital
where he was taken for treatment.
The affair happened on Main street in
front of the store of Lewis and Christ'
mas, and was dofte so quickly that few
realized at pnefe what had happened.
From what we can learn it is said that
trouhlo had fteen brewing between Wil
liams and Mr. Moody Hough, a neigh
bor, since early summer and that the ire
gro had -acted very insolent towards Mr.
TIo u gh on numerous oeea sions, a nd had
threatened his life. Monday?- Mr. Hough
got after Williams about leaving his lot
gate oi>en and the negro acted' rudely
! again. Both canjo to Camden and the
affair was renewed 011 the street. After

many yards in search of a phys'ciau
aud flnaWy fell from exhaustion on the
street and died from the loss of blood
a few hours later at, the hospital.

Mr. Hough has employed attorney M.

Mr. Hough was granted bond in the
sum of $2,500.
- Attorney M. MI Johnson is also en
gaged in tliis ease in defense of Mr.
Hough.
Williams is said to be a Georgia ne
