after amusement. It is drowning the
conscience in the gulf of oblivion. ? It

sition nor ttoue for serious reflation.
'i*his state of things is not confined to (
the great mass of people who make no
pretext at savlug faith ot* life of devo
tion. to Ohrijrt ; it is startlingly maul*
fested in the Church. Those preachers
which have been so bitterly opposed to
the Holiness Movement, aud have so
constantly objected to their people
may congratulate themselves that the
masses of the Protestant ehurch mem
bers of this country are seeking after
holiness; they are not hungering add
thirsting after righteousness; they are
uot finding the secret place of prayer,
and crying out to God. "Search me. O
(Jod. and know my heart, and see if
there be any wicked way ?Q me, and
lead me in the way everlasting."
If the Bible is true-^-and we believe
with all of our heart that it Is true^
the great masses of fellow beiugs are
hurrying on to outer darkness. They
are without Clod aud have ho scriptural
ground of hope for the fhtUre. Their
creed Is to "eat, drink, and be merry."
They are scklng to satisfy their spirit
ual nature with temporal things. They
have "a form of godliness but deny
the power thereof.". There can be no
thing more startling to serious and de
vout people than the fact that a large
number of preachers are catering to
the wishes of their godless throng. In
stead of rebuking and warning the peo
ple tliey are turning the house of CJ<">tl
into a place of amusement and pastime.
They an- "lie Miragiau: the jteople in their

:*s'< \vh:?t will the future be! How long
will thi< carnival of sin hold sway?
When will lh<> servants <>f <k?d awake
tnd call the people to repentance?
Tt is a startling fact that these God
tnul til tides are hastening t c> bell. They
have persuaded themselves that there

true they are falling headlong into Hie
pit of torment In countless thousands
and increasing millions. They certainly
are unfit for hea?n. People who do
not love and who will not obey, the God
of fhe liible. who have no -saving faith
in Jesus Christ, who have M> desire or
intention of seeking after holiness, are.
certainly unfit for heaven.
The great need of the hour is a< faith
ful. fearless ministry- ? a ministry with
an unshaken faith in the Holy Scrip
tures; a' ministry walking in-commun
1on with God; a ministry that will cry
aloud jnd spare not. May the Lord
awaken our preachers to warn the peo
ple faithfully of their danger, to point
out to them whether they will hear or
whether they will forbear, the fact
that they will spend eternity in torment
Such preaching will put some people
thinking. There are those tn every
community who will repent if they are
faithfully warned. What must be the
judgment and remorse in that great day
of the unfaithful minister who enter
tained. cajoled, and comforted sinners
on their way to doom. Men of God
baptized with the Holy Ghost, with an
unlimited faith in Christ, faithfully
preaching the eternal truth can get a
hearing, can awaken sleeping souls, and
lead men to repentance. Woo bo to
the preacher who trifles with God. his
fellowmen and himself, in this awful
hour.? Rev. H. C. Morrison. P. D.,
