suggested the organization In New
York of a society for the revival of
home industry and domestic art. Its
first move Is to gather all the spinning
wheels within reach and look up prac
tical Instructors In the use of/n house
hold Implement that had become but
an antique piece of furniture. Man

men, and spinning at home Is on?" of
the oldest forms of Industry. In the
cabins of American pioneers the spin
ning wheel was a necessity, and kept

nation, were called spare hours. Those
were the days of homespun textiles

duiker. The animal Is about the size
of a large1 goat, and Is known as an
eppo or empuyi by the natives, to

The eppo lives In the bamboo forests
of Mount Sablno and other mountain
forests, nnd seldom comes Into open
country. It often takes refuge In the
low and broad forks of large trees.
The creaturo has a stumpy tall, orlbl
horns, and marsh hooves; In color It
Is a rufous black, and has a bright
yellow stripe along about half of its
backbone. In the ease of the present
specimen, which wa/i, apparently,
healthy, part of the back was nearly

tal, says a report by J. H. Col well, pub
lished In the Journal of the Patent
Office Society. Broadly stated, the
system comprises a hollow plane
merged into the fuselage so that the
large trussed wing spars, the engine
housings and fuel tanks, as well as the
pilot, are Inclosed within the lifting
surface itself. The center of the plane
between the upper and lower walls Is
deep, while the wings taper to small
depths toward the tips. The eotlre
machine, Including the pilot's car. Is
practically a part of the lighting sur
face, thereby necessitating compara
tively few external wind residing
parts.
