Resioved Further ; That the Sumter Chamber of Commerce now records its desire that the road connecting the City of Sumter with the town of Camden be paved and completed to tho Kershaw eouhty lino via. The discussion was full and frank Messrs. L, 1?. Jennings, Chairman of the Permanent Highway Commission, 1. i\ Strauss, E. B. Reiser, J. H. Clif ton, J. F Bland, G. A. Lemmon, K.K. Rembert, I. M. Truluck, J. R. Rrltton and others participating. Mr. Jennings in the course of his re marks statfel that the Permanent High Way Commission held a mwting last week to consider the situation and to seek ways and means to complete the system of roads originally outlined, so that all sections of the county might l>e satisfied. The follow Ing resolution, offers I by Mr. Strauss, wus adopted us an amendment to tlif agreement adopted by the Perma nent Highway Commission and signed by the legislative delegation : Resolved that any available fumls, whether from boot) l?sue or derived under legislative aetlon be pro rated on the ten roads, exnept that Shite Highway and JYderal aid funds are to be devoted only to the roads for which name are now available. ? . '.Resolved, That in our opinion the mileage of roads to be* built should l>? pro rated with respect to the length of the road. At the suggestion of Mr. J. II. Clif ton a motion was adopted that the Permanent Highway Commission be in creased by two members, one to 1k* se lected by Ituftlng Creek and the other by ShtHih, these added members to act with the original commission, svlth equal rights and voice ami that t he elec tion of these two members lie validated by legislative enactment at the next wes sioli of the [legislature. ' After the adjournment of the meeting all expressed themselves as satisfied, and gratified over the outcome of the conference, and there seems now no probability that, the movement. to with draw from Su^iter county will be furth er agitated.
