One of the disconcerting effects of
the town of Kershaw and the county
?*f Kershaw- being similar in name, is
Hie eon fusion that arises in the selection
of Lancaster "county citizens to repre
sent Kershaw <x>u:rty in various capaci
ties. I'n too many instance^, beyoud the
limits of Jverehaw ciiunty, it is under
sold when a citixeu of the town gives
his resident as Kertfhaw that it has
reference to the county of Kershaw.
The territory of the town, under the
most recent survey, is about equally dis
tributed between Lancaster and Kershaw
counties, but by far the larger propor
tion of the inhabitants reside within the
?MUi'ty of Lancaster. Sentiment might
otiose sucl a change, but it would have
Im^mi far more satisfactory if the town,
being in dual Counties, had bee;? given
h different name.

The Oil fields of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Mexico are running to <

South Carolina has never been exploited for Oil and who knows but wh*t thi
will soon be one of the richest Oil Fields in the United States
Geological Formations
The Geological formation of this section of the country is said to be fayorabl
for the accumulation and storing of Oil. We have found some surface indication
of Oil near Charleston.
We propose to sjnk a test well, to 4,000 feet and if we strike Oil we will
thousands of dollars for the men who have invested in this company. Property va
