Three Survivors Half Frozen.

gian steamer Anton Van Driel, were
brought here today on the steamer In
graham. For tyro days and two night*
the three men had clung to the wreck:
of'their steamer as it lay on the jagged
rocks that barred the entrance to St,
Mary's bay. They had watched the
death. of^their comrades and felt the
? hip beneath them give -way piece by
piece under the merciless pounding of a
teriflfi sea. which swept incessantly over
them.
Officer Burned to Death.
First Lieut. Charles T. Poates, com
manding officer at the remount, station
at Canrp JadtHon. was found burned
to death early Christmas morning in a
iire which destroyed the officers' barracks
in which he was sleeping. Tho fire was
discovered at o'clock and had then
reached ii sfcate which prevented any
attempt at rescue. The building and an
other small frame building adjoining it
were totally destroyed and Lieutenant
